Quiet, Isolated and beautiful

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Aug 27, 2017
A very pleasant resort wit friendly, helpful staff. Room comfortable, clean, though bathroom a little tight. Good boatmen. Limited, though colourful dive sites. Our small group was fortunate to encounter a juvenile whale at one of the sites near Ligpo Island! Amazing! Meals are good, help yourself to tea/coffee.

Great place for divers who like to go for a few nice and easy local dives.
Loads of fish and critters to be seen.
The resort rooms are fantastic and staff very attentive to every need one may have.
The food is delicious and plentiful.
The restaurant area is really very nice, overlooking the bay.

3 points need improvement:
1- many areas are very slippery and dangerous
2- the swimming pool looks run down and needs maintenance; also, it's a pity it doesn't go deeper for some scuba exercises (deepest is 2m only)
3- the pricing for accompanying non-divers is ridiculously high and a deterrent for entire groups

Excellent place for diving, especially for beginners. The house reef has a stunning coral garden and can be accessed by shore entry. Very close to Anilao and dozens of dive sites of varying difficulty.

The resort is clean, the rooms are air conditioned. There is free Wifi. The staff are almost all qualified divers themselves.

The food is basic but fresh. If you are vegetarian, tell them several times ahead of time.

The only access is via boat. The resort has a shore side parking area.

As someone who has limited exposure to dive resorts, the Bauan Diver's Sanctuary was a wonderful surprise with its wide grounds and amenities. Unlike the resorts in Anilao whose terrain limits the resorts to a more vertical development, Diver's Sactuary has flatland, affording it the luxury of developing wider grounds and better architectural developments that includes 2 pavilions for divers of different groups, a clinic, a salt water pool, a spa and a big dining hall with a 180 degree view of the ocean.

With 2 queen sized beds and a single bed, their rooms are huge! Wide windows let much natural light in and a wonderful view of the ocean too. Luxurious blankets and soft pillows lull one to sleep. The bathrooms though are a bit small considering the size of the rooms, but clean. A set of bathroom essentials (toothbrushes, toothpaste, tumblers / glasses, cottonbuds, comb) would have made it complete. They do supply the little soaps and shampoo sachets.

The dining area served good and abundant servings of food. Drink selections are available apart from the overflowing coffee and tea. A bar also serves alcoholic drinks and appetizers. The buffet is set up on one side which does not obstruct traffic within the hall. The atmosphere is also homey and despite multiple groups, the hall did not feel cramped.

It was good to know, being a scuba newbie, that all the staff in this resort has been trained in advanced scuba diving. It gives comfort knowing that they will know what to do in case of a situation at sea, and that one can covere with them on matters pertaining to the ocean, diving experiences and weather occurences that affect diving. They are all so courteous and efficient too.

The wifi in this resort is good all over the place. There are not televisions on the resort, not that one is needed. Families can spend time here too, with major activities being swimming in the pool or snorkelling in the nearby housereef.

Diver's Sanctuary is indeed what it is. It felt much like home as the ambiance and the people made you feel rightly so. Easy driving from Manila too. This is one place we would be happy to go back to over and over again.

I stayed here for 4 days to get my "open water" certification. This place is fabulous. You can get here by a boat as no direct roads.

The place is run my Mark and Lourdes and they were very prompt and helpful with my reservations, amendments and queries (a lot of them)

They live in Hong Kong so I paid them in their HK account which is pegged to the USD, so, much better.

They sent me a car to pick me in Manila. The drive was very pleasant and safe. I reached the resort by early evening and met them. I had a room with a fabulous view (see pics)

One of the highlights of my trip was also the dive instructor - Egay. He's fabulous and very supportive. Since it was my first time diving I wasn't too sure but Egay made it smooth for me. He's been diving for 30 years or so.

After a dive, coming back to the great views of the resort made it absolutely relaxing. They even have a spa for those who like it.

The best part is that unlike most resorts, this resort has the best dive sights around it and hence no need to take a boat to go somewhere else to dive.

Great resort. Friendly people, clean accommodation and most of all excellence food.
1. Food..food... food... Amazing chef Michael.. Lunch/dinner were fantastic especially the BBQ picnic (pork belly, chicken, fish, prawn, etc)... He and his team followed our long distance dive. By the time we finished our 2 dives, the amazing lunch was waiting for us...
2. The resort - we (7pax) got a huge bedroom each. Unfortunately, bathroom is very small compared with the size of the bedroom. Hot shower (water pressure is very low). Wifi accessible in the room. Carla and her friendly team take care of all our needs.
3. Diving. Unfortunately, this is not our expectation. We heard so much about Anilao but after 12 dives nothing really to shout about except for the corals and the plants. Very nice healthy corals and plants. We got a great DM (Ah Long). I guess he must be trying very hard to look out for rare creatures..On hindsight, should spend more dive time at the tip of Mabini.

Overall, we still enjoy our trip. Hope to see you all again...
