The Duke of Wellington
Ranked #1 of 5 Restaurants in Stanwick
Certificate of Excellence
Price range: US$13 - US$46
Description: IT'S been a battle - but the Duke of Wellington has emerged victorious once again. Just weeks before the 200th anniversary of the original Duke's historic triumph over Napoleon at Waterloo, The Duke at Stanwick has beaten the builders and has opened its bars and kitchen. The 19th century hostelry has been closed since the end of last year to undergo major renovations. And now, under the ownership of the Vaz family, will be taking hospitality into the 21st Century. Now it's probably the best and most state-of-the art pub in Northamptonshire - and certainly the best pub in the village! Our head chef has recruited a team of crack chefs who intend to fight for top culinary accolades, while our manager has been signed from an internationally-renowned country house hotel to lead our charge to new heights of hospitality. We look forward to you trying us out. And filling your boots. We promise to fight for your custom.

We go to the Duke on a fairly regular basis, either at the weekend or evening.
We went on a Tuesday for a light lunch, trouble was you couldn’t get one. It was basically main courses.
You couldn’t get a baguette or sandwiches with various filings or just a bowl of chips. Not everyone wants a heavy lunch time meal, especially as they probably have a dinner in the evening.
I counted 8 customers in the restaurant side so to attract more customers I would have had a bit more varied lunch menu.

We visited today with 5 adults and two small children. We had a perfect table in a small area to ourselves which was great so the children wouldn’t disturb other diners. High chairs were clean and we had lots of space for the baby to crawl around.

Service was quick and friendly and the choice of food was very good with some nice vegetarian options. We each had three courses which were all beautifully presented and super tasty.

We had a lovely time and would recommend this restaurant to others with children. The children’s menu was really nice with some grown up choices and although ours were not old enough to order anything in a year or two I would think it would be great - baby had my asparagus, haloumi and creme brûlée and loved it all.

Went to the duke for a bank holiday drink. Atmosphere was fantastic great service from phil. Roger and gemma. So sad to hear gemma is leaving to go onto pastures new a great loss however I'm sure the duke will continue to offer exceptionally great food and service. You just have to visit. The bald eagle.

The best pub meal around Northamptonshire. We had camembert fillet steak and champagne and couldn’t fault a thing. Staff very friendly and great service.
