The tour itself is really great and we absolutely recommend it during the autumn season to see incredible colours and scenery in the countryside. You will learn a ton about wine, how the different varieties are made, and various facts about farming and growing and the winery business. We were able to connect with several winery owners, all of whom showed clear and true passion for their work, the environment, and Quebecois culture.
Kava Tours appears to be an inexperienced business still learning some ropes of the trade. Their communicativeness was very good and they kept in touch as we flew over from Edmonton, and our tour guide, Sabin, did a marvellous job.
However, due to their inexperience, we ended up having to do some of their work for them because they did not know where to start with booking an ASL interpreter for their tour guide, and seemed unwilling to do the research necessary to navigate this. Full disclosure: we initiated this a month and half before the tour date, so there was plenty of time for them to work on this. Truth be told, it took us all of 10 minutes to identify the Montreal interpreting agency and contact them, and we did this just so we could guarantee the tour guide would have the support they need and everyone in the group would be able to enjoy the day together. It was somewhat inappropriate for us to have to contact the agency ourselves and then try to pass them off to Kava Tours to work out the details, and there ended up being a lot of emails that we had to keep checking while we were on vacation - it was just more stressful than necessary and this is why we are giving an average score instead of a great one.
We trust that the Kava Tours team has learned from this experience and will be able to improve in the future. In the end, it was a very positive and memorable day!
Quebec's first winery started in 1978 - now we have over 200. This Kava tour lets you share and taste the passion of great (grape) people, led by a happy well informed guide.
Thank you for the review, it is very appreciated :)
Cheers!
I went on the full day tour. It was as informative as it was engaging. I particularly appreciated the choice of three distinctive wineries and the fact that the activities were not rushed. Great job, Kava Tours! Awesome job, Sabin (our guide)!
Thank you! We love reading great reviews like that :) We'll make sure to pass the word to Sabin.
Cheers!
While our day started off a bit bumpy because a marathon in Montreal prevented the tour bus from reaching the meeting point, we ended up jumping on the metro and meeting the guide outside the area that was cordoned off. What followed was a wonderful day. The countryside was beautiful...much prettier than the tour we took to the Laurentian Mountains and Mount Tremblant! Michel was a wonderful guide and offered great information on the area and the wine making process. We really enjoyed learning how wine making in Quebec differs from other wine regions we've visited. We also loved the taste experience at the first vineyard. The way different things influence the taste of the wine was surprising. All of the vineyard owners were interesting to meet and were so welcoming. Lunch wasn't exactly to our taste as the charcuterie included cheese which my husband can't eat and processed meats which neither of us really like. A bit of smoked meat or chicken would have made things much better. All my husband ate was a small bit of salad, bread and an eclair (which was amazing by the way). Thankfully I always carry Clif Bars with me just in case. Overall it was a fantastic day. One of the best tours we've ever done. Highly recommend!
Thank you for the great review! Again, we greatly appreciated your collaboration in the morning. The excursion wouldn't have been the same without your participation, so we thank you for that!
Cheers!
I booked the full-day wine tour for my parents (both 80) who went on the tour on the 23rd of September. Although they had already been to a show and had a tour of Montreal with another tour operator, this was BY FAR the highlight of their long weekend in Montreal.
Their guide was extremely kind and helpful. Thank you Kava Tours for having given my parents a wonderful and informative day out.
Thank you Renata for this review! We are very happy to read that our tour was the highlight of your parent's weekend :)
Cheers!
This tour exceeded our expectations. our driver/guide, J-P was interesting and informative en route to the first vinery/ciderie, Coteau Rougemont, an expanding operation with beautiful views, and great wine to taste.
Our next stop was the highlight for us, at Vignoble les Murmures, in St-Jean-Baptiste. a husband and wife operation in a beautiful hillside setting. It was really interesting to see how they processed the grapes on site, and we had a lovely tasting with home smoked salmon and pork, together with their son's great goat's cheese.
As an Ontario resident who knew nothing about viticulture in Quebec, I recommend this tour!
Thank you Joe for this wonderful review! We really appreciate that you took the time to write your comments and for being interested in our viticulture.
Cheers!
