Owner description: Saint Joseph's Oratory of Mount-Royal, founded by Saint Brother André in 1904, is a catholic sanctuary and the largest shrine dedicated to Saint Joseph in the world. We welcome everyone to partake in panoramic views, music concerts and special religious celebrations; come discover natural, cultural and spiritual treasures in the heart of the city. You will marvel at the votive chapel containing 10,000 candles, the Oratory Museum featuring nativity scenes from around the world, the Original Chapel, the spectacular Garden of the Way of Cross, the Crypt Church and the largest domed Basilica in North America.

A good walk up the steps and some great views. Church was standard and very modern inside. Good toilets. Interesting history and worth visiting.

Came to visit during the Easter weekend. To get to the place once you park in the lower lots you do have to walk up some steep stairs, so be prepared. But once you get up to the Oratory, the view is breathtaking.

The Saint-joseph oratory is one of those architecture beauties you just have to visit, whether you are religious or not. It is breathtaking. If you're a montrealer and you have people visiting your city bring them to see it anyone would love it!

A montrealer

Went based on all of the reviews which said this place was a must see... however I'm pretty sure you could see most of what you'd want from the outside, unless you are very interested in Father Andre.
I had a museum pass, so went to the museum, which was small and the most interesting part was the nativity scenes (les creches) from around the world. The one from the USA was particularly funny.
Otherwise it felt awfully grandiose and was quite a trek to get to. This is NOT a place for people with mobility impairments, as there are many stairs and few, if any, elevators.
