Wow located on the Rideau River, this is an absolutely beautiful spot to take the kids or entire family for a day out. Both the beach and river are lovely and so very clean. A lifeguard is not always on duty but the kids can still paddle and bath in the shallow waters (as long as adults are keeping watch).
The area is home to a canoe club and annual dragon boat races. The newly built play park is amazing, it celebrates Canada as each of the structures represent various provinces/areas of Canada. Be prepared to spend an entire day as the kids will love this park, it's beach and all the amenities. Note: There is a licensed cafe and rest rooms all conveniently located as well as parking.

Both my toddler and 8 year old loved the playground(s). Wasn't quite as big as we'd expected from the promos my daughter had seen, but still plenty big to easily spend an hour there. (And not to big that you can't follow them around).
Great options for both their ages too. Would definitely go again if we were in the area.

Great beach area, incredible playground and wide pathways - watch out for crazy cyclists though. Some just ring their little bell and keep going, leaving people jumping out of the way. Lunch was less than spectacular at the beach restaurant but it is licensed and handy enough. Little spot to buy ice cream treats as well. Also a good spot to wait between events taking place at the Terry Fox Athletic Facility. Easy walking distance of Hog's Back Falls as well.

With its sandy beach and volleyball nets, children's play park, and family picnic area with BBQ stations, Mooney's Bay is a summertime favorite with locals and tourists alike and home to some of our city's festivals including one of the largest beach volleyball tournaments in the country.
