Very nice cemetery located in Downtown Halifax. This historic burial ground is the final resting place for several famous Nova Scotians. Very important part of Halifax history. Too bad HRM does not do a very good job maintaining the property. Also, sad to see people using the cemetery as a parking lot when their kids are having graduation photos taken across the street in the Public Gardens. This is a cemetery people. Show some respect.

We took a hour long stroll through this piece of history past. The monuments are very beautiful and there is a lot of history here plus a few family members!

This is an old historical graveyard near downtown Halifax. It is well laid out and some of the more famous grave sites are identified with small white markers. Perhaps the most famous is the Alexander Keith grave - the famous brewer. There are other notable people buried there as well including Abraham Gesner (inventor of kerosene) and Viola Parks, the black civil rights activist who appears on the Canadian $10 bill starting in 2018.

Gravestones date from the 1800,s to the present with signs directing you to several of notable individuals. Quiet and calm.

I initially went in to look for Alexander Keith's tombstone, but ended up strolling through the grounds examining all the very old tombstone. Nice place to visit after the Botanical Gardens in the next block. Both points of interest were an easy walk from the waterfront.
