It’s a good place to spend an afternoon or a few hours, depending on how much of a shopper (or window shopper) you are. We spent around 3 hours on the island and probably close to 2 hours in the Public Market. We used it to fill the time between our hotel check in and 7pm walking tour. It was also a good excuse to use the ferries on False Creek.

Thank Ann M

Combine shopping and exploring English Bay at Granville Island. Cute wooden postcards and souvenirs are sold in “Shops of Creekhouse” beside free bike valet, below which is Aquabus: tickets and boarding ($2.50 kids and a couple dollars more for adults) to Yaletown & BC Place with a view of Science World. Between Old Bridge lane to this red wooden building and the Keg grey steakhouse (on Anderson facing mailboxes/ATM @‘Wild Seafood’), curbside parking is free, up to 3 hours before 19:00. You can park your bicycle or car and wander the public Market for food and gifts, then rent a kayak or paddle board for 2 hours ($40 to start) at EcoMarine beside Bonnie Lee Charters/Specialty Yachts parking. I personally like the Montreal SmokeMeat-or Cheese/Spinach-filled bagels at Siegels’ bagels; take them ‘to go’ in the market, for a picnic...even on water. Finish the day with pie-topped hot stew @A La Mode in the market, facing Sand Bar. Go back to find jewellery and decor (fair trade) at Ten Thousand Villages or in the kitchen market of Liberty, between Eco-Marine and the Market or bakery, after paddling the shoreline under Burrard bridge. Below the yellow Bridges restaurant, toward the end of the pier at Granville Island, is False Creek (covered) ferries and Wild Whales Vancouver docking—bring cash if you prefer to be on the water without getting wet. Motorized boat rentals also start at $50. In any weather, you’ll enjoy the ocean mist and scenery, in the heart of supernatural Vancouver!

Myself and husband went here a good few times while in Vancouver, lots to see and buy, lots of good eating places also. There is free parking for 3 hours with spaces scattered about, easy to find, Granville island itself is amazing

The Granville Island Market is a neat spot. There's a large selection of vendors, with many different goods being sold. We stopped for a fresh pastry from Terra Breads, some s'mores trail mix, and fried prawns at Celine's. It was all very good. Around 12:30 we noticed it was getting more crowded.. Apparently is a popular spot for lunch, so plan your visit later in the afternoon. We will return the next time we are in Vancouver to try more of the delicious-looking snacks!
