My husband and I went to Dixie's for his birthday and we were not disappointed. We wanted to find a good bbq place other than Memphis Blues because we'd already been there several times. We were both really excited and even though it's recommended to call ahead to "reserve" your meat so you're not disappointed, there seemed to be enough to go around. The neighbourhood is a bit sketchy but everyone seems to keep to themselves so no biggie. The food was amazing. We had the brisket, pork butt and ribs. My favourite was the ribs. We got coleslaw, cheesy spinach and cornbread. We both highly recommend the cornbread. Overall, the restaurant was a great find and we're excited to come back. Our server was friendly and attentive and offered really good recommendations when we weren't sure what to order.

We highly anticipated our first encounter with this restaurant. And it did not disappoint. It was fantastic. The ribs were incredible as were the corn dogs. The chicken and the mac & cheese was fantastic. We were too full for dessert however our server Jess, insisted we try their homemade pecan pie on the house. We all agreed that it was the best we’ve ever had. This place is a hidden gem. Great food, awesome service. Thank you Jess! We will be back!

Yes, it is BBQ.
Since they don't serve Brisket at lunch, since they don't start the pits early enough, I was not able to try their Brisket, but they say it was inspired by Franklin's. I did try the sausage, chicken, ribs and the Pork Butt. Overall everything was OK, no overpowering sauce, not burnt, no creosote flavor, but just not "wow that's good".
Sausage, Ok
Chicken, too much batter for me, but meat was moist and tender. Batter was very dark, maybe time to change the oil.
Ribs, appeared to have been cooked the day before and possibly warmed up in foil to keep them from drying out. Sauce was uneven. They were ok,
Port Butt, nice and tender, juicy, but very light on the "spices" /"Sauce", I like a South Carolina Mustard/Vinegar sauce, but that's just me.
Over all, everything was good, but I would like it to be a bit more "Smokey" and more spices/seasoning used. The server said they use Alder, Maple and Birch, which maybe the reason for the "light smoke flavor". Don't know what type of smoker they have but since it is located inside the restaurant kitchen not sure if it is an actual stick burner, or they just burn a small amount of wood in an electric or gas fired smoker to enhance the flavor. The menu says live-ember fire, but there is no reference to that on the website and no pictures of the smoker(s) either.
For Vancouver it's great. Was worth the visit. The service was perfectly fine. Will try again for dinner, want to put their brisket to the pull test, sure that it will pass.

We were shocked to read that someone had bad service at this cozy little spot. We've been to this place multiple times and it gets better and better each time.

Okay, lets be really real for a second. The place is located in one of Vancouver's most eccentric neighbourhoods. Located on the surface level of Hastings and atop the darkest part of town, this place attracts everyone and anyone looking for tasty BBQ (without the sauce). Unlike many restaurants that hide behind their brown sugar or pepper sauces, Dixie offers a smoked menu with all the fixins on the side. That Cornbread is to die for.

As for the service, its just what the doctor ordered. Seasoned staff with personality. Far too often we visit places that have the servers writing things down or looking at the chalkboards for daily specials. This aint Denny's, these gals and guys know what they're doing.

Anyone who thinks otherwise is probably off their game, doesn't know good service or perhaps they're flying high from the treats they scored at Oppenheimer Park (I'm talking to you "Sara C")

The Brisket will literally make your heart sing. It's that good.

Drop what you're doing and go there now...they're open 5 days a week (Wed to Sunday)

I was really excited to try this spot, but so totally disappointed with the service I can't recommend it. Our server was point blank rude and inattentive, despite the restaurant being almost empty. From the time we were seated until the time we paid our bill each interaction was painful.

The food- yum!!!

This is a shout out to management, you need a new waitress or risk loosing repeat guests.
