“Most Beautiful Scenery”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 8, 2009

All good things that a trip should be. Great restauarants, great wine, beautiful scenery, Banff National Park, awesome shopping and most of all...the American dollar can still get you an extra 9 cents per US$.

“Calgary in Summer on the way to Banff”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 10, 2009

Stayed one night before going to Banff and one night before flying out. Better hotels (4 stars) are in downtown area (like of Hyatt, Westin , 3 1/2 star Marriott) and 4 star Sheraton by the river slightly on the end of downtown. Airport area hotels are 3 stars or lower only. Hyatt which we stayed is right on Stephens Walk, pedestrian only eating-shopping area. Downtown is small, easily walkable. Prince Island is about 10 short blocks from Stephens, which is festive during weekends, with a lot of pedestrian traffic, nice park, pool-small water park for kids, a few food venters, and unique shoppiing center there and Chinese Cultural Center there. Sheraton Hotel is next to Prince Island. Lots of ethnic food choices...especially Thai, Indian, Viet, and so on. Airport is about 15 minutes drive from downtown. Shopping centers are so and so per American standards. Channock Shopping center is south of Calgary. Driving is easy and Banff is about 75 minutes drive from downtown Calgary (taking TransCanadian highway which is Highway 1, can take 1A if want slower smaller and more scenic? way).

“Expensive”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 25, 2007

Be warned Calgary to eat and drink is not a cheap city not like Vancouver. Beer was at the cheapest 3.50 :english pounds: a pint compared with 2.25 in Vancouver. A 2 night stay is quite enought to get the general gist of Calgary Then move on to Banff etc. Vancouver is a much nicer cheaper place with much much more to do. If you want any info just ask my friends have lived there for 28 years.

“calgary is addiction”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 10, 2007

It is almost a year I have been to calgary. I heard and read the word "heaven" before, but realised that it exists in calgary only. You will immediatly fall in love with the place. Quite, you can hear the cracking sound of leaves under your feet, serene, you feel life begins here only, overwhelming freash air, deep breathing comes naturly, true nature, you don't need books to learn nature, smiling faces, you will never forget them, helping gestures, they make you go gaga. I am in love with this place.
Go for long drives, amazing and breathtaking lake luise, exotic benf, each and every inch of this land is talking to you. you don't have to touch sky, it comes down to greet you and leave a fragrence all around you.
It would bring tears in your eyes the day you leave the place. A whole life too is not enough.
