Went with friends tonight 25 Nov 17 to the Old Plough in Braunston. We were in the 'lounge' part of the pub where food is served. Roaring open fire on a cold night, lovely! Nice relaxed atmosphere with great friends and after a few minutes got served and menus given. Typical pub grub you may say, but good wholesome home cooked food it is. Shame they only had 1 portion of the faggots, but the chef was very obliging as two of us wanted this, so it was split and an added 3 sausages each was welcome and filling. Good value and good beer on draught. Shame that the only bar tender spent most of his time in the public bar where there was a great crowd of welcoming locals.
Brad deserves a special mention. Great character and very helpful.
Go on, try this place for a beer and a well priced meal. You won't be disappointed if you want good honest fare.

We came for lunch on a Monday in the rain. We waited over half an hour for our food. My veg lasagne was sad and microwaved and had a strong vinegary taste. Chips were greasy and not cooked enough. Salad was served with no salad dressing and they had none when I asked for it. How difficult would it have been to buy bottled if they couldn't be bothered to make it fresh? My husband's lamb shank was ok- served with mash and veg and a rather sorry looking yorkshire pudding.

Visited on a Friday night with two friends. We all ordered something different and all 4 plates went back to the kitchen all cleared ready for washing. Quite a lot of noise coming through from the bar but that is to be expected on Fridays. Three real ales on offer as well as a good selection of non-alcoholic drinks for the driver. Will be going again soon.

We visited for a meal with friends and the food was typical pub grub at the sort of prices you would expect. The chicken pie was good, but the burgers were rather disappointing while the vegetable were badly overcooked. Nothing too bad, but it could have been so much better.

The bar staff were a bit too keen on spending time chatting to the locals in the other bar and it's very annoying to see that our drinks have been poured but they still stayed there chatting - I'd quite like to spend more time in conversation with the people I'm dining with rather than stand at the bar alone and watch the staff talking to people in the other bar. We didn't bother ordering more drinks as we could see that others were taking a long time stood at the bar, also being ignored.

The guy serving us at the table was efficient and friendly, but was let down by the kitchen. The food appeared from the kitchen one or two dishes at a time, so we urged our guests to start while their food was still hot and we waited for our main courses to arrive - which they did, first one and then a while later the other and even after all that, the wrong vegetable selection was sent.

This could have been a much better pub if they had got their act together, but sadly that wasn't the case. Braunston has a couple of other places, so we'll try them next time.
