We traveled to Krystal Grand Los Cabos from March 22, 2018 - March 29, 2018.
We are 25 and 29 and we went as a couple.
The resort overall is fantastic. Clean, beautiful and relaxing.
The food was great, especially the Asian restaurant. It was our favourite and we ended up going three times.

I have to say first and foremost that the employees were AMAZING. They work so, so hard to ensure that you are enjoying yourself and are satisfied. Each one that I observed was hard at work. They are extremely friendly and we did not have one bad interaction with any of the employees.

It winds down around 10:30 pm at night and there is no shows, no nightclub or nightly entertainment. There are three fire pits lit up every night where you can relax and there is a band in the lobby some evenings. We were OK with it being quite as we were there to relax and not party. If you are looking to party at night, you may have to go off the resort.

The one disappointment (but wasn't too big of a deal for us) was the room situation. After we had booked, I noticed a lot of negative reviews about the "residence rooms" not being what people were lead to believe online and that the boulevard would keep people awake. I was so nervous about this and didn't want to have a headache upon our arrival so I emailed the hotel directly about the room situation asking that we be placed on the main area of the resort. I got no response for the hotel so I emailed sunwing and the hotel manager directly. The hotel manager got back to me promptly and stated that they would try their best to place us on the main area of the resort.

Upon our arrival, the paper they had asked us to sign stated that we were placed in residence. I had notified the front desk that I had requested that we be placed on the main area of the resort. She then had an employee show us a "garden view" room. It was COMPLETELY different than what you see online. It reminded us of a low budget motel room.

We were obviously not happy with this and stated that we would even pay extra to be placed in a room that looks like the photos they had posted online. She said she had an ocean-view suite available and that it would be $50.00 USD extra a night (we stayed for 7 days, $350.00 USD in total). At this point we were tired and just wanted to get situated so we agreed and asked if they would accept $300.00 USD, which was roughly $384.00 CDN and she agreed. We talked to another couple and they had the exact same situation and they stated that they didn't have to pay extra and they were upgraded as a courtesy. I guess it all depends on who you get but I recommend upgrading to the ocean-view or do any upgrading through your travel agent or online. It will prevent headache upon arrival and I am sure it is a lot cheaper.

On the positive side of all that, the room was amazing and the view was incredible. We only vacation once in a while so the $300.00 USD for the room wasn't a big problem for us and in our opinion was worth it.

I would certainly vacation here again and have already recommended it to friends and family.

Went to Costa Azul Beach and visited the Crystal Grand. Just not a classy place. All the other properties around us were lovely and then this loud obnoxious hotel trying to impress visitors with “all inclusive”. If I want this kind of hotel I’d b much better in Cabo. Not for me.

The Krystal is a great newly renovated property with pretty good food, decent location, sandy beaches that you CAN swim/play in despite the reviews, and its very safe, clean and has wonderful staff who seem happy to be there. When we first checked in we were given a room slated for renovation this summer; the bulk of the property has been re-done and there is no construction right now during the high season. From Maritza at the main restaurant to Jesus the pool bartender, to Jose the Assistant Manager of the property...they are a class act for service! The gardens were gorgeous, the pools were clean, and the grounds are spotless. You would always see lots of staff on.

The Japanese food was amazing followed by good Italian and a good Grill. We did not care for the Mexican restaurant. All of the restaurants have been renovated and are very lovely in terms of atmosphere. The buffet was decent with good variety and they hauled a bbq out by the pool everyday and served up a variety of dishes...bbq ribs, grilled fish, who bbq chickens, etc. There is a coffee shop off the lobby that is also excellent and the staff were all over the top friendly. We took our 7 year old and we appreciated and loved the evening activities for families...musical dj, karaoke, etc. The 2 guys running the activities were excellent; very engaging but yet knew when to tone it down and get off the mic! Loved the noon hour water aerobics. The gal running the kids club is incredibly good; very connected to the children and there were no issues in terms of safety. You had a schedule of where they were and you could also hang out in a secluded spot outside the club if you wanted to be close to your little person.

There is no night club (thankfully) and evening activities tend to wind down around 10pm...the bars are still open and the lobby bar and martini bar are both good vibes and stay open later but realistically you are up early so you go to bed earlier. You need to claim a chair by the pool or beach by 7-7:15 am or else you have to be a vulture to get one and lurk over people.

Definitely go into town (San Jose del Cabo) for the Thursday night art walk...its amazing and so was the restaurant Jazmin's....its truly an amazing experience with Mexican dancers, traditional food, and an incredibly majestic atmosphere. There is great shopping in San Jose...tons of silver, beautiful leather, and traditional shops. You can enter an air-conditioned fancy store in one step and next door is a steamy hot garage type building with people that barely speak English.

Room Tip: Pay extra for the Ocean View and ask for the building right on the beach/ocean.

We had an amazing experience at the Crystal Grand. Starting with checking and ending with checking out. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The food was fantastic. We ate at all restaurants except for the Mexican which we heard was excellent also. Our room was great. I would highly recommend this resort. We met so many wonderful people that are employed here. The recreation staff of Christian, Jose, Eduardo and Aurea were awesome with the activities they provided. The staff at the O Buffet are incredible. We want to thank Maritza, Dolores, Merecedes, Mauro, Jesus, Victor, Javier, Jose, Hector, and many more for the fabulous food and service you provided for us. A big thank you to Nattaly who looked after our every need. We can' t forget the bartenders/servers of course. Thank you Gregorio, Alan, Jesus and so many more. The security was excellent headed by Mario. We hope to see you all when we return next year!!!!

This was our first stay at the resort. It has beautiful, well maintained grounds, 3 lovely pool areas and very friendly staff. Our room was on the first floor with a view of the pool and ocean. It was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The only issue we had with it was the sliding door to the small, outside patio was that there was no lock on the door. It took 3 days for them to get around to fixing it. We had reported it twice to the front desk and were told they would send someone right away. The third time, my husband spoke directly to the manager (around 9:00 am) and she that it would get dealt with right away. Around 4:00 pm, my husband went back to the front desk and saw the manager again. She asked if the repair had been done and was surprised that it wasn't. We were offered another room, but it was much smaller and had no view (which we had paid extra for) to which we told her "No, but thanks for the offer". Within 10 minutes, she had 2 repairmen arrive at our room to do the repair - which took about 15 minutes to complete. The manager, Arianna, apologized for the inconvenience and the amount of time it took to get it done.
There were several restaurants in the resort - Italian, Steakhouse, Mexican, a Snack Bar at the pool and a buffet. We had breakfast at the buffet each day, but were not overly impressed with the food. We enjoyed our lunch from the snack bar which had a good selection of food to choose from. For dinner we alternated between the Italian restaurant and the Steak house. Both were very good. Service at both was great and the servers were very personable.
After dinner, we went to the lounge beside the front desk to enjoy a drink. On two occasions, there was a band playing (they were very good) and people were dancing.
There were "bonfires" on the beach, but we opted to go to the lounge. Reports from people that we met were that the bonfires were great fun.
To get to the "town", it is a lengthy walk, but taxis and bus service are available.
We enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.
