This is a beautiful resort that isn't too large but has plenty of room to relax by the pool or down at the beautiful beach. the food was really good and we enjoyed the parties at the beach in the evenings.

Great time at a great place. The people are fantastic and the place is cleanly. Angel by the pool for entertainment is awesome. Jorge serving drinks was one of the best. Rarely had to ask for one, he juts knew. We will go back for sure

Hi ANGEL GASTRLUM!
This is one of the guys who made our stay so good, so complete. ANGEL is one of the servers who takes care of you in the largest of the Buffet Dining rooms. You know, the one below the main lounge. Most often we dined at this area (but did try all others) and found it had really, really good food and plenty of it. Get to know your server as we did with ANGEL. He has a great personality and will add to your day and your stay. After arriving, we would leave our table to FILL our plates to find upon our return, our glasses filled with wine and Diet Coke as we had asked for on previous evenings.
Don't forget to visit the LightHouse for drinks and the pools and the beach to complete your experience at Barcelo. Walk to San Jose old town to work up your appetite.

Go and have the best of times ("ON THE FUN SIDE OF THE WALL") and say HI to ANGEL for us.

Room Tip: We opted for a Superior Ocean View, and glad we did!

My sisters, my daughter and I spent 7 days here in a standard room. The resort advertises every room has a sea view. If you are not in a premium room, I wouldn’t expect more than a peek a boo glimpse of the sea. The room was big and pleasant. The pools were great! We were blessed with great weather for our entire stay.
Housekeeping was hit and miss and often left our balcony door open which was a security risk as we were on the second floor. A bigger security risk was when they left the door to our room open.
The hostesses at the restaurant doors were exceptionally and consistently nice. Wait staff at the buffets were hard to find for drinks and most didn’t understand “hot tea”. One server had no English whatsoever. I felt bad for her as she really couldn’t help anyone and seemed to feel badly. The Wait Staff at the a la carte restaurants were great! The Italian restaurant, however, had the smallest portions I have ever seen. Seriously. We went to the buffet after!!
Overall the food was mediocre at best and rarely warm.
The Swim Up Bar bartenders were insanely busy and not friendly at all.
Entertainment was seriously pathetic.
The hotel had a small gift shop attached to it. The staff followed every person that came into the store. Turn around and they were right behind you. Uncomfortable!
I wouldn’t go to that resort again but I would definitely go to San Jose del Cabo again. The town is lovely!

We stayed at this resort about 4 years ago and granted they had damage from a storm several months before, but the room cleanliness (espically bathroom), service, food at buffet and a la carte restaurants was very poor. The only good thing I will say is that their entertainment was very enjoyable!
