This was our 4th time at Solmar it’s the only place we stay, the food is fantastic, the Resort is immaculate. The staff is the best, we have had the same staff since day one, Jose Vargas, Manny, Daniel, Moises, Damian, Octavier .. they are all the BEST !!!!!! This year for the first time we had Susanna, she was Awesome !!! Walking distance to the marina, there are taxi vans waiting 24/7, there is a security guard that takes your room number coming and going, we had young adults with us so we went out one night when we returned at 2 am the guard opened up the van doors to make sure we all returned safely.... that is the main reason we stay at Solmar

This is my second time coming to Solmar resort and I can’t wait to come again! The service is amazing, especially our pool side server Emmanuel “Manny”. Always go with the all inclusive package, the food and drinks are amazing and you don’t have to settle for boring buffet food. Both trips I used a Groupon and process was seamless. This trip we did make the mistake to tour the Grand Solmar for the timeshare presentation. It took over 3 hours and the “gifts” were not worth the time wasted. Make sure you book a couples massage in the cabanas on the beach. It’s so relaxing with the sounds of the big waves hitting the shore.

I got a pretty good deal with a Groupon back in November, and decided to give this place a try for a weekend. We just returned, so our stay was June 22-25th. When we first went to check in, there was something going on weird with our room, because they told us that we would have room number 2181 for one night, and then they were going to switch us to 2482. Room 2181 was a complete and total nightmare. Just a bed and a bathroom in a box....literally. No view, no dining area, no kitchen, no sitting area. It was on the 1st floor, and in a very busy, high traffic area. Rolling carts of dirty laundry, every conversation that was being had between the staff, every person that walked by was heard by us. I was awakened several times that night because the room sucked in every noise there was. On top of all of that, the air conditioning was broken, and it was actually cooler outside than it was in the room. It also smelled extremely musty. When I went to talk to the front desk about it, all they could focus on was that they were moving us to another room the next day. Why were we put in that room for 1 night to begin with? If they EVER try to put you in room 2181...REFUSE. They could have put us in the other resort for the one night or something.
Once they moved us to room 2482, I saw the HUGE difference in rooms, and while it was nice to be in a much nicer room, it irritated me that we had to spend our first night miserable. The new room had everything it should have, and it was very spacious. It had a kitchen, dining, sitting area and a balcony. There was no musty odor, however, the air still wasn't working to full capacity and the room got uncomfortably warm very quickly.
Besides that, upon check in, we were directed to a woman who wanted to sell us a time share tour. When we refused, she got hostile and accused us of having a time share appointment elsewhere. This wasn't a good way to start our visit at the resort.
The food is mediocre, the staff was nice and friendly. The grounds were beautiful. The pool with the swim up bar was cool. If I were to stay here again, it would have to be because of a very good deal, otherwise, we will be staying elsewhere our next trip.

Room tip: Stay away from room 2181

Really a fantastic getaway. Have been to cabo a handful of times and this place has everything we could possibly ask for. Went with the groupon which was all inclusive and really makes the stay extremely convenience. Beautiful pool, not too crowded, food was great, super nice staff. They even upgraded our suite (since it wasn't a peak season I believe). Highly recommended!

This place is okay if you have no prior experience with all inclusives, no expectations, or experience with high end resorts. We are here now and it's been a hassel staying here. If you're looking to get pampered don't stay here. The biggest annoyance is having to sign for everything you order down to a bottle of water. Which, by the way, they don't stock in your room. They literally just came to our door at 915pm (we're in bed) to have us sign for something we ordered at the pool bar earlier today. We also got back from an excursion at 845pm and we're hungry. I called the restaurant and we are not allowed to order anything and take back to our room. And since the kitchen closes at 930pm we're SOL. But we can order room service for additional charges, of course. Our AC in our room was out for 24hours also. We have a friend that has worked for another resort for 20+ years.... I'm half tempted to pack up and finish up our vacation there. It's also our honeymoon and that was mentioned up front when booking and upon checking in, but nothing extra special was done or even offered for additional charges. Not looking for handouts or freebies but something would have been nice. I'm not picky. The rooms are not special and the grounds/restaurant selection is limited. The service is mediocre minus a few nice staff members. The beds are comfy. The food is good and the beach and location are good. But if you desire good service stay at Dreams or Villa del Palmar. Sorry to leave a negative review but it's getting old. Also, the premium internet for $50 extra US dollars is crap.
