Historic Walking Tour of San Miguel
Certificate of Excellence
Attraction details
Reviewed 4 weeks ago via mobile

We have been to San Miguel several times, but have never taken the walking tour. We decided this time to go, and it was no mistake. Our tour guide, Donna, was so relaxed and well-informed; she also took care to make sure that we had enough shade, and places to sit and rest when needed. In addition, all proceeds for the walking tour support an important service to shoulder in in the villages around San Miguel and provide them medical and dental services. The tour is approximately 2 1/2 hours long, and includes the history of the area in general, of the revolution and independence, and pertinent architectural information. It was one of the real highlights of our visit this time.

They kept the groups small so it was easy to hear our guide Donna Rubin as she showed us around the center of San Miguel. Very knowledgeable, kept us moving so we did get to see many of the sites and just enough history to keep you interested and focused. And it supports a good cause in San Miguel.

Our bookclub, a group of 4 couples had a wonderful tour with Jack Harrop. He was delightful and a walking history book about the area and the Mexican revolution! We all highly recommend this tour and all proceeds go to a worthy cause, medical and dental care for the children in the area. Ann & Bob Kramer

Took this tour on our first day in San Miguel and would highly recommend it for first time visitors. Our guide, Saul, was amazing (and obviously an educator ). Very knowledgeable, interesting and certainly loves this job. All proceeds from this tour go to provide medical and dental services to the neediest of children in the community which is a great reason to take this tour in and of itself.
This tour is filled was so much history and interesting facts about San Miguel—just wish I could remember half of them. As a side note—wear your most comfortable shoes. Saul told us San Miguel is known as “the city of fallen ladies”

We met the director of the tours while walking thru town on Thursday and she suggested we take the tour on Friday morning. John Herron was our tour guide. He was a very sweet and knowledgeable historian from Ireland . He took us thru a few churches and gave us such a wonderful and descriptive tour of the town. The tour is 2.5 hours and costs 300 pesos. I am so happy we decided to take the tour, it was so interesting and we learned so much about the history of San Miguel:)
