What a great find! we booked our trip 18 hours before the plane left and we were very fortunate to have found this gem. the hotel is adorable. Clean cozy and located just right. The chef, host and owner- Paco is wonderful! we were treated with a full gourmet breakfast in the nicest fashion. we loved the fact that is not a big establishment and the fact that it is owned by a native person. we walked to the town center everyday and found this place a perfect solace. would highly recommend it to all.

Room Tip: it seemed there is only one room with tub and view of the city... so act fast

After our four night stay at this place we believe 5 stars is not enough to rate this amazing hotel and experience. Its absolutely fantastic! Paco is an excellent host and pays close attention to every detail in the architecture of the place, the service and the food served. Definitely looking forward to repeating our stay in Sarabanda. I highly recommend for those looking to stay at a Boutique Hotel!

Back in the day, tHe Guide Michelin developed a rating system for gourmet restaurants. One star was worth a stop. Very few restaurants qualify for one star. Michelin ain’t Trip Advisor. Two stars is worth a detour. The few who get one star kill for their second.

Three stars went to a very few exceptional places deemed worthy not of a stop or a detour, but of a trip. On Trip Advisor, these are the five star reviews that wish they could award a sixth.

Sarabanda is worth a trip. It has although only five rooms, so it’s a trip to book ahead. Paco and his wife are artists that pay extraordinary attention to architectural, service, and culinary detail.

The architecture of Sarabanda is amazing. It sits a brief, pleasant walk from town. It is a stunning place, with several domed brick roofs, mortarless stone walls, and tasteful art and lighting throughout. We saw two rooms, both with fireplaces, large bathroom, luxurious showers, etc.

We dined in several of the city’s finest eateries, but often ended the day thinking that breakfast had been our finest meal. Breakfasts were three to five course, plus gourmet coffee or espresso. Pears soaked in a local honey anisette. Fava beans marinated in something amazing. Pineapple soaked in rum with a coconut foam. A crazy good zucchini soup. All with fresh breads, cheeses, pastries, etc.

Paco pays acute attention to detail. He is an extraordinary host. We were here during a quiet week (OK, not always quiet. There was construction next door. But Paco warned us in advance.). It didn’t mater — we were very well hosted.

If this is a special trip, stay in a special place. Sarabanda is worth your visit. You won’t regret it.

The Sarabanda Boutique Hotel is a top notch experience for travelers who want to feel a part of the fabric of San Miguel. When you enter through the blue-painted doors, you feel as if you have just returned to your own private sanctuary....graceful courtyards with fruit trees and fountains, curated, calming decor and spacious up-to-date guest quarters.

Susana and Paco are both effortless and enthusiastic hosts. Every course of Paco's creative, culinary breakfast productions is worthy of a standing ovation, and his pride in the care he takes in his product is deservedly evident.

As a former hotel inspector for a major travel publication and worldwide traveler, I have to say our stay at Sarabanda was faultless, excepting the construction noise next door, which the hosts managed to the best of their ability and kindly made us aware of in advance of our stay.

Sarabanda is a great value, especially when you factor in the gourmet breakfast daily. The location is out of the way but walking distance to everything you need to see.

We were there during the fabulous Dia de Los Muertos celebration when the city was at its artistic, friendly, traditional best. The staff was very helpful with insider tips about local watering holes and eateries.

In style and character, Sarabanda is reminiscent of the luxury riads in Morocco. Intimate, inviting, and full of character.

Room Tip: I believe all of the rooms are distinct but equal with the exception of the one with the private rooftop terrace - a real love nest :)
