I traveled to Tulum with a friend this past week and we enjoyed most everything about La Posada del Sol. The service, the breakfasts, the location, and the people all were fabulous. We liked both rooms we got to experience during our recent four-night stay. The first was above the carport so near street-sounds which isn't a problem unless you want to sleep in later than 7:00. We would've stayed in the room but my friend had broken her neck 2 months ago and was wearing a neck brace and the spiral staircase was a little challenging. It just worked out better moving to a bottom-floor room so we moved to a different room and we stayed in it for 3 nights. I believe the second room we were in was their room which is closest to the beach. We had our own lounge chairs on our own deck. We loved sleeping to the sound of the surf through the open windows through which we felt ocean breezes. We were offered a 10% discount for paying cash. Ive never had such great water pressure and constant hot water supply to a shower in any place I've stayed in Mexico! Even though the hotel doesn't have a restaurant, we were able to order from the restaurant that was next door and have food delivered. Also, there are many restaurants within walking distance.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the ocean provide great breezes and sounds!

We stayed here for 10 nights in the Sol room. I loved this room! There was a huge king size bed, private balcony, and the room was large and clean. We really loved our stay there and can't wait to go back. The staff was wonderful - very nice and accommodating from start to finish. A few things you need to know before you book - this is an eco-hotel - if you don't know what that means, please be sure to do your research. This is not a suite at the Marriott. What it lacks in glistening amenities it makes up for in character and quaintness. If you're looking for a modern hotel - keep looking there are plenty of others along the beach that will supply what you're looking for. We tend to travel and stay in hotels that offer a more unique experience and this place was perfect for that. I do recommend staying on the beach where you can keep your windows open for a breeze and not hear the busy street traffic. a word of advice - pick up a cooler on your way to the hotel and grab some ice, snacks and bottled water here. it comes in handy as there is not an on-site restaurant, however, there is beach chair service at the hotel next door.

Room Tip: We chose the Sol room. Private balcony overlooking the beach and two power outlets.

This hotel is eco friendly because they are very cheap with everything. Only one power outlet per room, minimal staff, minimal lighting and not even a fridge. The front desk at night is lazy and not helpful. She wouldn't even give me a cup of hot water for my medicine and I pay 350 a night. This place is pretentious and not worth the money compare to the surrounding hotels.

The room was very comfortable and quaint, exactly as described with beautiful art hanging throughout. Only minus was one outlet in the room we would recommend doing what we did by using an adapter with multiple outlets or USB connections. There was no AC in the room which made it a little uncomfortable at times, but just more reason to take a dip in the ocean steps away from the hotel. We sadly missed turtle hatching by just a few days but saw the shells they had zoned off. We would absolutely love to stay here's again and have already been recommending La Posada del Sol to all our friends and family.

Room Tip: Pick the room with the Ocean View!! So worth it
