When we were last in Tulum, westayed in one of the cabanas by the beach. Back then there were only a handful of such establishments and they were affordable. Unfortunately, today, the hotels hug one another all along the beautiful Tulum coastline and these cabanas prices are way off chart. So we decided to stay in town. After checking around, we found Posada Yum Kin, which came highly recommended by Trip Advisor. We were not disappointed. We were greeted by Balbina, the owner who showed us around the posada. All rooms are equipped with ac, mini fridge with bottled water, a water dispenser with an 18-liter bottle of purified water for toothbrushing and such, beautiful furniture, and ceramic floors. One thing stands out for me, i have been to so many different establishments in tropical countries and have never seen one as clean as this one... Not one single bug was found ANYWHERE.

There was a beautiful swimming pool with a spa surrounded by lush vegetations, a breakfast area where we were served a generous and magnificent breakfast every morning by Manuel, the in-house chef who is a gem, and all the cleaning staff was muy simpatica.

We did have to change rooms half way thru our stay because we did not confirm our reservations in time. Room 4 was pleasant and well situated, right by the front door, ideal for those late nights out drinking and tip toeing back. Then we had room 4, one flight up from the swimming pool and breakfask area, small but so comfy, except that a bit of window dressing to keep that rising sun out would have been better.

The Posada had bicycles for rent, the best price in town, offers laundry service, and can make dinner upon request. It is not near a beach so having a car is almost a must though those bikes can take you anywhere you need to go. Also, i'm told that taxis are plenty and very affordable.

One small suggestion, since the public beach does not offer any lounging chairs or parasols, the posada could have some on hand and for a small rental fee, its guests can rent them to bring to the beach.

This has been the best hotel in my trip. The tenant has been a huge help at my arrival making sure I would be ready for a big day of visits ahead, including a taxi scheduled awaiting for me at the door. It is very beautiful, the food is good, there is A/C, private bathrooms and showers (those are hard to find in Tulum), everything is clean and you can rest and enjoy your vacations there for a long time. There are many plants and flowers creating a peaceful environment for a good place to rest. I would recommend this place to a friend for sure Taxi price from ADO bus station is 30 pesos, from the hotel to the beach is 70 pesos. Enjoy!

We made the trip from DF to Cancún, staying in several places and this was our favorite. It has an amazing vibe, We had a very nice comfortable room... it was a family trip (My wife, two kids and a baby) and we really enjoyed our stay. The kids loved the pool. It is rather a quiet place, with a functional kitchen, nice beds and a hammock outside the room. Would stay here again for sure.

Once you walk through the locked portals of Posada Yum Kin you know you have arrived at a very special place. Our room was extremely economical, yet was colorfully decorated with local handicrafts and had a fully functional kitchen with lovely ceramic dishes and cookware. Air conditioning works well, delicious breakfast included in the price, serene patio area with chairs and hammock, really there is no detail that has been overlooked. One criticism was the difficulty in locating the hotel manager who was rarely in the office and frequently no where to be found, although he was helpful when you could locate him. Also the distance to town is about a 15-20 minute walk, quite lovely, but means to have to plan for transportation.
