Good hotel location, with access to the beach. Sun beds and umbrellas available for guests. Quite a large room with bathroom, air conditioning, fridge, TV. The room was cleaned every day. The price of the room included continental breakfast, other options were paid. Wi-Fi only at the reception,

Room Tip: rooms from number 305 have a sea view

I was here for a week in March 2018.

The hotel is located on the beach and has its own loungers. There are plenty of loungers and the hotel snack bar was good. Some reviewers have made a point about how 'tired' the loungers were looking. That didn't bother me too much.

The beach is nice and sandy, though in places it does get rocky at the waterline. When I was there there was a mass of seaweed being washed up along the whole cost, though this cleared up after a few days.

Ocean View Room - don't get this confused with Ocean Front Room - I booked one of these and wish I hadn't. They are spacious rooms with 2 double beds. The ocean view is a gimmick. Don't expect a room overlooking the sea or the beach. You do get a glimpse of the ocean from behind some other buildings and palm trees, only because these rooms are at the highest level (floor 3). However these rooms are placed high up but the furthest distance from the beach. It's a bit of a trek to these rooms as well. In hindsight I wished I'd booked with an Ocean Front or Garden View room.

Whwn I was there there wasn't any hot water. They seem to have this problem frequently (read earlier reviews), and sometimes there was no water at all.

The room does have a free safe, lots of power sockets, air con and a ceiling fan. You don't have your own balcony though there is some seating space outside the front. This area is east facing though and stops getting the sun at around 11am.

The wifi is literally none existent.

The locality is very good. You're very close to 5th Avenue and right next door to a loud bar. However the rooms are soundproofed pretty well.

To be honest I wished I'd stayed elsewhere. Perhaps one with a pool. It wasn't a bad stay but it could have been better.

Room Tip: Don't get an Ocean View room

If you’re looking for an accommodation with great location in Playa del Carmen, this is perfect. Right at the beach and by 5th av. without being disturbed by the surrounding bars and restaurants. Great that sun beds are included for guests and good lunch in the restaurant. Especially the fish taco, yum! The WiFi is not that great and some days there weren’t any beach towels until late which was a minus in the days we wanted to go to Tulum and Akumal, but you can manage. The rooms were clean cause we gave good tips to the cleaning lady every other day. Great beds in our room but a bit noisy from the reception (nr 208). Would definitely go back!

Our stay was pleasant, the hotel staff was very accommodating and helpful. They allowed us to store our luggage on the day we were leaving, as the airport shuttle did not pick us up until 7.30 PM and check out was at 12 noon that day.

Pelicano Inn is right on the beach off of Calle Cinco, the artery of Playa's shopping district. It can be a bit noisy with beach clubs nearby that play EDM music into the night. Yes, as has been said, there is no TV (at least not in room 103) and the WI-FI is slow but the beach is literally at your door. The restaurant gives a good basic breakfast but the service was slow because of a staff shortage on our first morning. Each room has a nice lounging area with table and chairs and you can also use the beach lounge chairs facing the Carribean for no charge. Be sure to go to the third floor to check out the awesome view from the small gym and big rooftop deck; it's spectacular and was an underused area when we were there.
