We selected this excursion on our Carnival cruise for the 8 of us ladies. Rafael and Chino were excellent guides that made our trip fun and exciting! We selected the earliest time slot and it worked well for our snorkeling adventures. They would go under the water to point out different sea life and Chino even saved one of my flippers after a fish swam into it with my foot, and it consequently fell off. The water was cold when we first got it, but you forgot about that with the beautiful views. The homemade guacamole by Rafael was delicious, followed by a great lunch & free drinks. We loved exploring the rest of the area and Rafael had it set up for us to meet with a native woman who was making fresh tortillas and her secret homemade salsa (fabulous, by the way!). The sea lion show with Luna was adorable. Manuel was a great host for our tequila tasting, and the explanation of the different types and secrets to drinking tequila without the burn were very much so appreciated. We loved every minute of this excursion and highly recommend it to others!

We booked our tour through our resort, Barcelo Caribe. We were a family group, 10 in total. 6 adults and 4 children. We took the ferry to Cozumel where we met our guide Hector. We were the only people in his group. He was amazing! He provided an overview of what was available on the tour of Chankanaab Park, and then advised us that “Mexico is flexico”. Basically, we could pick the activities that we wanted for the day. As it was Good Friday of Easter weekend the park was very busy. We opted to snorkel as much as possible. Hector took us on a guided tour of the reef, showing us the highlights and pointing out various sea creature that we encountered. We finished our tour, took the kids to the seal show, ate lunch and returned to the water for another some self guided snorkeling. Hector had arranged for us to have access to the snorkel gear a second time. Hector was very accommodating and excellent with the kids! So much so that the kids 16 - 8 years of age provided feedback on the comment cards. He was very personable, and made sure that we were able to experience what we wanted. He was a wealth of knowledge and gladly answered all of our questions regarding the park, other tours, Mayan and Mexican culture. Without question, we would request Hector for a return trip. Thanks Hector for creating some lasting memories. Your Canadian Friends

Went with my 60 yo mother, wife and 7 yo daughter. We took a taxi here from the port which was $4pp. We were just looking to swim and snorkel so did the basic entry which is $21pp. We went to the sea lion show (about 20 minutes) and ate at a beach restaurant (not the buffet) which was $50 for the four of us including 2 adult beverages.

Note the beach is manmade otherwise it wouldn't be near the coral features. Which means it not such a great place for just plain swimming at the beach. You use stairs to access the water to get past the rocky area but you can go to the pool if kids just want to swim and there is a small tidal pool that's good for kids as well.
My daughter enjoys snorkeling so her time was split between the pool, tidal pool, and snorkeling. Also, the higher package includes snorkeling but we had our own gear so we didn't need it. It may have included lessons but I'm not sure. There is a rental vendor inside as well so if your not sure what you want to do you can always upgrade once inside. There are a few sunken statues that you can view that are further out and decent coral close to shore.

There are plenty of other activities that are inside the park that we didn't check out so you can easily spend a day here looking around at different areas.
