The rooms look as they have been redone and they are beautiful! The staff was very accommodating, courtesy, and helpful.

Carlos was absolutely top notch teaching snorkeling and kayaking! He was so informative and friendly he made both experiences amazing.

Jeremias Chi? (Bell Boy) has tremendous people and hospitality skills! He was able to give us wonderful information about the best and economical sites to see around the city. He really deserves to be at a management level as he understands that showing care and respect for the visitor will enhance others' experience.

Room Tip: Pool view will allow the view of the beach too!

Vacations are for Relaxing

The boutique size of this resort, makes it a gem.

Time slows down here; food is usually pretty good.

Service is also usually good.

please please please do not be the ugly rude Gringo, who tips stingy

Remember that the economy is tied to the dollar, and cost of living is absurd.

Please tip like you do in the states.
Your meals x the number of people needs to be @20% or better.

I like the scale of this place—it’s small enough to feel like a community but large enough to let me be anonymous.

Clientele is largely young families and grandparents, which keeps the place wholesome. If you’re looking for a party or a scene, this is not your place.

The buildings and units are extremely well maintained. The full kitchen is simple but a fantastic benefit. The small gym is clean, staffed and nicely appointed. The pools and pool areas are clean, well maintained and a lovely place to spend time. The little grocery store is super convenient. The unit cleaning and wait staffs are fantastic. Many thanks to Patricia at the beach, Virginia in the Palapa and Hector in our unit for working hard and taking care of our large group.

The towels are great, but the sheets and pillows are absolutely terrible. Synthetic sheets — I didn’t know synthetic sheets were still manufactured. Pillows are lumpy and too thick. Air conditioning sounds like a semi truck engine.

The free sunfish sailboats, stand-up boards and snorkeling equipment at the beach are great. But the resort simply must get serious about the condition of the beach. The sand is a bit rocky (perhaps due to nearby curb repairs?) The sand layer is too thin—the beach sits on a concrete base that was noticeable this year. All the teens on our trip left the resort with thorough abrasions to their knees from playing beach volleyball—it was ridiculous. The beach chairs are plentiful, but the resort needs to wipe the bird crap off the chairs DAILY. (It is disgusting. And I actually witnessed an early morning staffer with a spray bottle and towel notice wet bird crap on a chair and just kept walking.) They also need to empty the cabana’s little garbage cans DAILY. They also need to check for broken chair supports and straps DAILY.

We acquired our week in 1998 and three of the four of us just concluded our most recent week in our two-story villa overlooking the pool, gardens, Palapa, and ocean. It is like coming home to a a comfortable, familiar, and beautiful haven where we are indeed treated royally. From the helpful, polite front desk staff, to our room attendant, to the staff in the Palapa and on the beach, everyone took wonderful care of us, yet again. The buildings, pools, and grounds are consistently and beautifully maintained and look like picture postcards. The drink service at the pools and on the beach is excellent!

The only consideration that kept me from awarding five stars is the uneven quality of the food served in the Palapa. Granted, it has to be difficult feeding people all day with the all-inclusive program. Some of the food is fine, such as the soups, burgers, hot dogs, and salads. However, most is just passable, and not on par with the food available at the other Royal Resorts.

A bright spot regarding dining is the new Italian restaurant, Trattoria, in the main building. The pasta and pizza dishes were tasty and freshly prepared and the wines by the glass were reasonably priced.

So there are many bright spots to enjoy at the Royal Cancun, even if our choice is to dine elsewhere while staying here.

Room Tip: The two story-villas sleep 6 and has two full bathrooms.
