Stayed here for 10 days this month. The Hotel is pretty dated, but it's one of the cheaper hotels in Cancun that has a beach.
The guests in the hotel are mostly Mexican nationals, and this is very apparent as alot of the staff have little to no English, but all of the front of house staff speak good English and everything in the hotel is written in Spanish & English anyway.
The food is fine, nothing fancy, just a basic mexican food buffet for Breakfast through to Dinner. But there's a nice, cheap mexican restaurant directly across the road that does some really tasty food, and plenty of places to get some good grub further up the road just a 5 min bus ride away.
The beach is fine, and comfortable to relax on because not many people sat on it, as they seemed to prefer the poolside.
This hotel is a " Get what you pay for" kinda place, but I honestly enjoyed it, it has a certain charm about it.
If you need your Luxury etc, this is NOT the hotel for you.
But if you are on tight budget and don't need all the bells and whistles thatcome with a more expensive hotel, Hotel Aquamarina is a good choice.
My only real advice on it though, is definitely go all inclusive.
