So, let’s start with the good: we went on Valentine’s Day, and it was off weather… a bit rainy. The crew handled it with class. They handed out umbrellas and had a rain shelter set up. Appreciated.

My wife looked AWESOME, floor length red dress. Yeah, still marry her again.

Food was really good. Not “wow”, as my steak was heavily over salted… I had to scrape the salt off and eat each bit with mashed potatoes to control it… but still tasty.

THE BAD …

**THE SHELL GAME** As usual, we’d looked up the menu, prior to arrival. When we sat, the “head waiter” brought out a food menu and a drink menu.

STICKER SHOCK.

Minimum on the Special Menu was $2500 pesos, and top was $5500 pesos. He said this is a “SPECIAL MENU”. I could see other tables of guests looking around too. I had brought a good amount of pesos, for our planned meal, but this Special Menu would mean only one of us could order.

I asked if there was a regular menu, and he pushed us to order from the SPECIAL MENU. Finally, after asking a THIRD TIME, surprise, there was a Regular menu. He still pushed for the Special Menu… alas, I didn’t want to do dishes to pay for payment. Order (from the regular menu) placed.

SHELL GAME CONTINUES, next table. EVEN WORSE.

The table beside us was a lovely sweet senior couple, late 70s or 80’s. The lady said her husband only wanted a steak, as he had a very small food capacity. Of course the Head Waiter again delivered the SPECIAL MENU. When she asked for something that was only a steak, he ignored her request, and told her how wonderful the SPECIAL MENU was. Twice the price, minimum…

After he left, we told her to ask for the regular menu. He came back, she asked for the regular menu, steak only, and AGAIN he pushed the Special Menu. In the end, they ordered the lobster/shrimp/steak. The old fellow of course only nibbled, and had to take lobster, shrimp and steak leftovers… ever had leftover lobster?

SHELL GAME and coercion to trick customers …
We will never be back. Honestly, EVERY nice restaurant in the Bay has the same view of the same bay and sunset. Lots of restaurants, save your hard earned for places that respect their customers. If they need coercion and trickery, it is not our kind of place.

My partner and I made a reservation based on some research we had done about PV and area. Le Kliff - an absolute gem of a property for a romantic dinner, while watching a beautiful sunset. The property has a stunning view of the ocean; with multiple tiers of seating, giving everyone an opportunity to enjoy the breathtaking views. The property continues to recover from the hurricane from this last autumn but don't let that cause you pause, the property has done an outstanding job in bettering the guest's dining areas. Only phase remaining is to re-construct the palapas. From receiving us at the host station, to escorting us to our table and dinner service...all were provided with our dining needs in mind. Dinner was fabulous - tasty and excellently prepared. Note: they do try to upsell you on an 'all included' tasting menu and preferred seating (we had read about this in advance). We politely declined and were seated at our table, with a view. No issues. Our server Alex y Jimi was excellent. Very attentive - checking in on several occasions for water top ups, wine service, to answer questions we had, etc. Excellent customer experience provided by Alex. We would definitely return to Le Kliff and highly recommend for a more elevated dining experience.

This is one of the goofiest restaurants I've ever been to, i can't believe it gets over 4 stars, it's just silly.
I give this two stars for the view and that's about it.
Let's get right to it, there are raccoons IN the restaurant. The staff says"they just show up every night"and then you see the staff feeding them garbage from your plate. They throw empty lobster shells down to them in a little alcove directly adjacent to the seating area. They giggle a the raccoons take food off of the bus trays then they want and day "shoo". Hellooo, there are raccoons walking between the tables!

Then they present you with a cocktail menu for 500peso margs, that they make with top shelf reposado tequila... there is ZERO reason to make a matrgarita with sipping tequila.
Paired with this is a specials menu which is just various mixed grill plates for 2500pesos pp. For grilled or fried shrimp, a lobster tail and a steak. There is no culinary work done here, it's just grilled proteins. (And warm water lobsters are disgusting)
The regular menu has a good assortment, and our waiter comes out and says the steak my wife ordered for 700 pesos isn't as good as the 1100 pesos steak... good call. Not the worst food we've had in pv, but 2nd.
The layout of this place is is equally strange, terrace after terrace, need to use the bathroom? start climbing. I heard a person at the next table mention it, thought he was being dramatic until i went. The men's room urinal is a trough, might be a good spot to meet somebody? Because there's room for six guys to urinate shoulder to shoulder. The bathroom shares a half wall with the ladies room, so you can hear each other over the wall, how fun!
Behind that is the kitchen area so think of that while using the commode.
The woman adjacent complained that her steak (1300p)was tough, the easier agreed and said she should have ordered a more expensive steak!
They serve coconut shrimp on a skewer with white chocolate sauce! Are you nuts? (Raccoons later came and ate the skewers off of the bus tray).
My wife paid and I'm guessing for 2 it was around 4000p.
Good god. Hire a chef de cuisine to design a menu. So mutch potential, completely mediocre for the cost...Amixti a couple of kilometers close to town is much more refined, better food, and no raccoons

Le Kliff has always been our favorite special occasion spot. This time the service was a little off. The waiters were hanging off to the side of the table shooting the sh@$. Then when they interacted with us, they upsold us on everything. The food was delicious, view spectacular (main reason to go). For a $350US bill for 2ppl (without tip) we expect perfection.
