We've traveled to Puerto Vallarta for the past ten years and always found time to stop in our walks to visit the John Huston Plaza. I'm sad to say the immediate area of the plaza and Huston's seated brass statue in particular has gradually fallen into a state of disrepair. The plaza is now empty of businesses, the brick and paving stones are broken and dirty and the concrete base is crumbling. The general impression is one of abandonment and neglect. Going the same way as Dick and Liz's Casa Kimberly and their pink bridge on the hill. There's no room for nostalgia and history anymore in Puerto Vallarta's rush to expand the tourist industry.
