When in Brunei abhu Dhabi Malaysia and dubai I expected to be woken at 5 am. NOT IN THAILAND IT'S RUDE AND IMPOSING. The budhists don't bang the drums at hotels at 5 in the morning. I will happily buy alarm clocks for the few that actually go to pray at 5 am in Ao Nang. This is a budhist country with catholic and Hindu followers. so didn't expect to be woken by call to prayer here.

We didn't expect such an excellent mosque there. It was clean and beautiful. Women can perform prayer on the ground floor while men pray on the second floor. The washrooms and ablution places were clean and tidy as well. And the halal food court is right outside the mosque.

The mosque is located on the Main Street as you enter Ao Nang but too far from the main beach area to walk easily from there. We just looked at the mosque from the outside but it is a very interesting structure

Was informed the mosque was built by owner of Resort & Spa located few mins walk behind the mosque. I went during Ramadhan (fasting month), so free meals provided in the mosque compound for break fasting for the Muslims. Located along the famous Muslim Street, and within 10mins walk from Aonang Beach. Modern architecture and the changing light scene at night was great to see from my hotel balcony.

Both to see the mosques and to hear from them is very sad. Ao Nang used to be nearly 100% buddhistic, but now more and more people wearing burkas and it´s getting more and more muslims in this paradise looking down on women who wearing normal beach clothes..
