We went with two kids (4 & 7). The service was excellent and they have good accommodations to the kids. My husband ordered the surprised menu by the chef (6 courses). The dishes were good but that caused the meal to become 3 hours... (imagine that the amount of patient of the kids but they kind of naturally blended with the environment and the food).

My dishes were excellent! I ordered a la carte to my taste (oysters, frog legs, champagne risotto with oysters and caviar). Absolutely delicious.

They were also very generous with the accompaniments.

We took the standard but good lemon sorbet, the green apple sorbet was very good (less for the kids’ taste) and the blood orange one was superior.

We were offered to visit the extraordinary wine cellar which has over 60,000 bottles of special collections.

Overall, it was a great experience.

Expectations were really high. A friend recommendation, a Michelin star, word of mouth....The reality was very, very disappointing. There were only two positive things: interior and very interesting wine list, some items quite reasonably priced. The rest was a nightmare. Very slow service, average food. How on Earth can they serve truffle risotto with a very aromatic cheese that completely kills the truffle? Roasted wild duck was ok, a normal dish without any imagination. That is not enough for a place like this. Sommelier was equally pathetic: very slow to bring the bottle, not able to open the bottle on time to let the wine breathe, unaware of the fact that there is something like a Burgundy glass. Oh....

My friend highly recommended this restaurant after having come here two nights ago and had raved about it non stop. I was able to squeeze in a reservation for two despite the restaurant being full on a Sat night. Kudos for accomodating us. The restaurant is located deep inside a vine yard and not easy to get to as the roads are dark and very narrow when driving at night and especially challenging if you had a few glasses of wine.

While the restaurant had amazing ambience, views (during the day) and an even more amazing wine collection, we were utterly dissapointed with the service and food quality. First off, we felt like we were treated like 2nd class citizens compared to the caucasian customers seated next to us as they would get their dishes served before us even though we were there first and for a michelin restaurant, service was piss poor. No refill of water or to check up on us like a proper restaurant would. Some of the dishes came cold and the duck was way overcooked and gamey which i sent back. While a proper establishment would apologize and replace the dish, La Ciau simply gave no acknowledgement and jst took the dish away with no apology whatsoever. To add further insult, the so called on the house desserts, i found a piece of hair in my custard. Once again, no apology and i expected the manager or chef to come by to speak to us but nothing, they clearly was not interested in repeat business with us even though we spend 600euros for two pax. Will not return...

This place is simply insane.
Located in the very heart of Barbaresco vineyards La Ciau del Tornavento offers a stunning view of the langa area and top quality food.
Chef Maurilio and his staff will make you feel at home serving incredible dishes.

Wine cellar downstairs is pure pornography. Parental advisor for wives and fiancée: your loved ones will loose their minds down there.

Saying something bad on this place sounds like criticizing mom. Impossibile!!!!!!

Just go there both in autumn (truffle, ca va sans dire) and summer periods.

Simply amazing food from the chef. A complete evening experience. The prawns fried in a hazelnut topping were delicious as was the truffled egg and the milk soup. Stuffed kid was divine. We had a splendid selection of the best from Barolo include the amazing conterno.

Make sure you see the cellars.
