Rooms were beautiful and the pools and that’s were it stops. The food was awful, inconsistent service, payed extra for a sea view that included a construction sight and overall it was way too expensive for what you got.

Pros: Very expansive property. Plenty for the eyes to feast on. Plenty of open spaces. great views. bicycles on the balcony at the fitness center.
enjoyed different pool every day.The cliff pool was awesome. the grotto with the aquarium was fun for my daughter. Many restaurants to choose from. Free room service after mistake from the kitchen, albeit, $24 for each burger. Loved the room, the shower with a view of the ocean.
The store clerks were great!, very friendly
Cons. The staff is somewhat relaxed. the "island" culture.
Basically, nothing to do after 5:00, if you don't gamble.
Nothing for teen after sundown!

Of courses the food prices were outrageous, that's a given!

Cafe Madeline was great.
Enjoyed Cleo, Morraccan stew, yum

Place was absolutely beautiful and very clean. Not many food choices and no entertainment. Not much to do at night except have dinner and gamble. It was spring break week, yet hotel and casino weren’t crowded with people like the Atlantis was. Staff at Baha Mar was very friendly. Beds were comfortable. There’s always help to get you a chair on the beach or at one of the pools. Cabs are always outside to take you out of the resort. 10 minutes from the airport. Would go back again if they added more restaurant options and entertainment and activities to keep you busy.

The Baha Mar is a gorgeous property that is built around a large casino and sports book. The Grand Hyatt itself has 2 towers on the east and west side of the casino. As a relatively new resort the Hyatt team seems to still be finding their way. Service ranged from exemplary to non existent throughout our stay. Service in the restaurants, grand club, pool and beachside was significantly better than any kind of housekeeping support. I am a big fan of Hyatt and have confidence that service will soon catch up to match the quality of this resort

Information about available amenities is not widely publicized. Here are a few things that we learned that might make you trip more enjoyable

1) There is a free boat that shuttles Baha Mar guests to Balmoral Island on an hourly basis. Once there you have complimentary access to a VIP area with cushioned furniture and dedicated waitstaff. There are dolphin and ray encounters that can be booked for a nominal fee

2) The Baha Mar has shark, ray and turtle feedings twice a day that are open to larger groups. No reservations are required. You can also book complimentary interactions for small groups which involve feeding the turtles from the water, having rays swim across your lap and petting nurse sharks. These sessions fill up fast

3) If you exit the elevators on the 7th floor you can access the pools and beaches without having to traverse the casino floor

4) The Grand Club is one of the best that I have visited. Breakfast typically included a wide variety of fruits, pastries, meats, cheeses, cereals, eggs and fresh juices. The evening offerings included complimentary cocktails, beer and wine. The evening food offerings were different each evening and were typically hearty enough to be dinner if you are so inclined

4) Some posts have suggested that food prices are high. I found that the food outlets (both trailers and restaurants) by the pools were quite reasonable and the food quality was better than average. Large poke or burrito bowls were about $14. The restaurants that served dinner were more expensive but largely in line with what you would expect at a resort property

5) There is a great little Daiquiri Shack just off the property across the street from the Melia. Daiquiri's made with fresh fruits were only $6 and they have a decent burger as well

6) There is a bus that will take you into Nassau for $1.25 each way and can be accessed via the bus stop to the left of the property as you are exiting. Downtown Nassau is crowded and largely geared towards the cruise ship crowd. Lots of restaurants, bars, jewelry stores and t shirt shops. We toured the Queens Staircase and the saw the changing of the guard (done once weekly) and returned to the hotel.

7) Most but not all of the pools are heated. The pools that are heated tend to fill up fastest. People do seem to head down to the pool after breakfast to stake their claim. There seems to be more than enough chairs to go around.

8) Complimentary SunBum Sunscreen (SPF 30)is available at each of the towel stands.

8) If you are looking for an activity Powerboat Excursions is my top pick. I have been on lots of tours and this was amongst the very best. For around $200 pp you get a high speed boat ride from Paradise Island to Ship Channel Caye (a private island) in the Exuma's. The waters in the Exumas are remarkably clear and this is a first rate tour operator. Once in the island you will have natural encounters with lemon and nurse sharks. You will have an opportunity to feed rays, snorkel the reef and swim with pigs. Drinks are complimentary and lunch including steak and mahi mahi was very good. Everything including transportation to and from the Baha Mar is included

If you can look past cases of inconsistent service you will have a great time at this resort

Place is very nice. Beware of high high prices and make sure you confirm type of room you request with the hotel not general reservations. If travel at a peak time make dinner reservations a couple weeks in advance!
