First, the diving was amazing--plentiful turtles, grouper, and rays. Healthy coral. The guides communicate clearly and gave detailed briefings. They manage the time so that everyone gets the perfect surface interval. They gear you up and take your gear off, change over to your next tank, feed you some basic snacks, and tell you jokes while you wait for your next drop. Nitrox station is set up for the location mixed to 32% and calibrated daily, and all dives are limited to 110'. The Bloody Bay Wall is epic and we had visibility over 100' every day with one day over 150'. If you follow the divemasters, they will show you some really amazing corners of the reef--they know their backyard! It was beyond words.
On land, this is an extremely clean resort. Little Cayman is small and rural and that means no crowds and healthy coral. The resort is small enough so that quite a few of the staff learn your name during your stay. Each member of the staff was sweet and kind, especially Ingrid in the dining room. The owner of Reef Divers is also a super cool lady and she runs a very organized operation. She provided great advice as I was certifying two Open Water students during this trip. Also, I would recommend this place to older divers and divers with disabilities--they valet service is pretty darned nice. I work as a commercial diver, so having someone remove and switch my tanks between dives felt pretty fancy.
Food was better than average. It is buffet for all meals with enough variety that everyone was able to find something they liked. Steak and lobster night was my favorite, and they had other nights with good carving stations and some local fish.
I was totally exhausted after each day. It was one of the very best vacations I have ever experienced. 17 dives in 6 days. There is mind-blowing natural beauty down there and Little Cayman Beach Resort and Reef Divers set you up for the experience. My only regret is that not enough people signed up for the night dive so that is on my list for next time. Definitely put this place on your list--it is one of the very best corners of the world and I would go back in a heartbeat.
