Pros: endless shopping
Endless resturants and things to do if you have the money
Cons: I hate that they bombard you and try to get you to spend your money with them before giving you a chance to really look around. DON'T LET PEOPLE TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOU...ask questions and say you will come back or look around.

Been visiting the Hip Strip for many years and only go to 1 shop there. Tropical Treasures is the BEST! No high pressure sales tactics, reasonable prices, and a clean environment. Sam the owner will treat you like family. He remembers us from previous years and is happy to help you in his shop. You will find a lot of the same merchandise from shop to shop but you won't find the excellent customer service Sam and his staff provide. Would highly recommend this shop!

Least enjoyable part of the trip. We went hoping to get tee shirts and gifts at discount prices. I don’t feel that the prices were much lower than what we could have gotten at the airport or gift shop and was very uncomfortable with the pressure to enter each shop. I have been to markets in Mexico and the difference here was the lack of a large crowd and narrow walkways. In Mexico it is much easier to get lost in the crowd and harder for shop employees to key on you as an individual.

Four of us went out to look around the Hip Strip. It was nothing I need to do again soon. There are just store front shops mostly using aggressive sales tactics to try to get you to buy from them. These store fronts had the same products for thr most part.
One of our friends did find an item cheaper at one store so he went back to the store who originally said they had the cheapest price on the item. It took a some discussion, but the original store did give him the lower price. They the. Told him there was a 16% sales tax. That was a bit suspect, but it may have been legitimate.
We went down to the stray market which I don’t know is still part of the hip strip. It is a bit off of the beaten path. There were a number of booths to wade through. Each booth appeared to have much of the same merchandise. The sellers are pretty aggressive in trying to get you to their booth, but once you’ve said “no” two or times they usually let you pass peacefully. It is kind of a sat set up. It was extremely hot. They are set up as open are, although covered, booths. They have no heating/cooling system and I never saw a restroom. It is really bare bones. It was said they have basically been made outcasts and the tourists are now steered toward the actual Hip Strip. It seemed like a bit of a rough life. They did get some business from our group, but I am sure they need a lot more visitors.

DO NOT STEP FOOT IN THIS SHOP. The shop is Indian owned however there are many owned by locals. The owner appears very nice and makes you feel as though you have been given a good deal. He is a fraudster. The price agreed was £75 however we have returned to the UK to find he actually charged us £99. There is no way to contact this store and we will therefore be taking this further. This is the only shop we entered on the hip strip so unsure if others are the same.
