Having seen the photos online this resort looked like a typical 5* beautiful Dominican resort. However, there is a lot of maintenance going on and our ‘deluxe superior double’ room was damp, smelly had mould on the bathtub and our toilet didn’t flush. We easily changed rooms to smaller but clean fresh room, overlooking the main pool/entertainment area.

There are many pools at this resort and almost all are clean and well maintained except for the biggest pool with the swim up bar. It is full of sand, and smells of urine and needs a good clean out of flies and leaves.

Food at the resort if good, the restaurants offer nice food. The best by far is the Japanese restaurant. The buffet offers a variety but is quite poor for breakfast.

The beach is lovely, plenty of room and loungers. There is also entertainment on the beach alongside a great beach bar.

The resort tries to push you to upgrade to VIP at $30 per day per person. From what people said, it’s a bit hit and miss and isn’t necessarily needed to enjoy your stay. You get premium drinks, fancy Loungers and a 2 pools which are small or closed off for maintenance.

We stayed at Be Live for a week with two friends and had arranged to upgrade to Vip before we left the UK after reading very mixed reviews regarding non vip and vip benefits. So glad we dis as upon arrival were whisked to the vip bar and were checked in privately whilst drinking a cheeky mojito. We were then introduced to our personal assistant/bellboy/butler Jorge who showed us to our ocean view room and organised our dinner reservations for us. Our bags were brought to our rooms for us and Jorge explained the complex to us and the vip only extras. We were in building 4 which appearance wise looks basic but our room was very spacious with separate bath and shower and very clean. The fridge was stocked daily with water, pop and coors beers. We had a bottle of rum and freshly cut fruit in our room upon arrival too which was a nice touch. The only critique I could give the room was the air con smelt a bit musty. Jorge explained we could eat breakfast and lunch at the vip only aqua restaurant which we did and this was fantastic. The food was freshly made to order and a large selection to choose from and all staff were friendly and attentive. The vip beach bar was beautiful, set on the beach with very large 4 poster beds and they were always available. The vip pool was nice, however when non vips used the area they were not told it was vip only by the vip staff. I'm no snob but I paid extra for the peace and quiet the vip area offered so was miffed when it was disturbed by people who shouldn't have been there. The beach area was different as it was constantly manned and I saw non vips being politely told they couldn't use the area. We ate at the 6 different restaurants and they were all superb. Lovely food, you could have been in a Michelin starred restaurant the food looked and tasted that good. Everywhere we went the drinks were free flowing and we were always being asked if we wanted another, apart from the vip pool where service was sometimes slow and we ended up going to the bar ourselves, this could be due to the time of year we stayed. There are sellers around the hotel and on the beach but a polite no thank you and they leave you alone. The sellers on the beach actually joke with you if they see you look and turn away or pretend you are asleep lol. The ocean did have seaweed but the green team worked day and night to clear as much as they could and the hotel can only be commended for their efforts. Jorge was fantastic with us. I had a few issues during the week and he went above and beyond to help. He is a great asset to the hotel. Going vip is a must to make the most of the hotel, the benefits far outweigh the cost in my opinion. The branded drinks you get rather than something in a plastic cup was worth it alone never mind the restaurants and the beach area, you also get better Wi-Fi too. We loved our time here.

We arrived here on October 6th and we are leaving on October 13th and we have had alot of dissapointments through out our trip. Our check im took a long time and the hotel didnt honour our requests from Air Canada Vacations to have our rooms together. A resort at less than at half capacity, this really should not be an issue.

We were also annoyed by the fact that we were not allowed to use the Lobby Bar as they had it reserved for higher paying guests. An extreem dissapointment as all other bars through the resort were not well maintained and there is no where to sit at the bar to enjoy some drinks. We had never been to a resort before only to be told that we were not allowed to use the Lobby Bar. We will never come back to this resort for this reason alone.

Booking an Ala Carte dinner is a complete chore as there is limited selection and the agent will simply say its "full".

Service in the Buffet needs improvement as it should not take 30 mins to have a cup of coffee served to us.

Lastly if you do not wish to be bothered by constant sales people, please stay at another resort. This is extreemly annoying to us and completly un-accetable.

If you want a hassle free vacation, please stay somewhere else.

I don’t even know where to begin. It has been a week from hell. I’d like to start off by saying I’ve been to punta cana many times as well as tons of trips. I never had anything bad to say about Punta Cana until now because this hotel. If you are a women of any age have fun being harassed. The staff harassed me constantly by grabbing my arm whistling saying inappropriate things constantly and one even followed me to my room. Our room was never cleaned. It took 6 hours to just get an extra pillow. We would call many times no one would come or be hung up on. Our toilet and sink break without using it. Money was stolen from my room. Etc. The main part I am shocked about is I went to management about the sexual harassment and they basically laughed in our faces and did nothing about it. Wouldn’t offer a single thing to make up for a week from hell. No money back, no offer, no apology. Just a form to fill out. I am shocked and can’t put into words how bad the treatment is! I have never written a review before but I couldn’t let this one go.

Due to the safety from our guests’ belongings is a top priority and the hotel reputation is at issue when there is a mislaid item, we immediately perform a very cautious research aiming to offer you a fast solution about it. Nevertheless, the results might not be positive because it depends on the location it has been mislaid. Nonetheless, after this investigation concluded we reply you according to the Local Police and the hotel security procedures. We read many reviews before we booked and had some concerns. Took the advice of many travellers before us and decided to upgrade to VIP on arrival. So glad we did. From the moment we arrived we were taken to the VIP bar and given cocktails whilst they sorted the check in for us while the other travellers had to queue to be checked in. Our bags were taken to our rooms and we were given a butler Jorge who ensured our stay was superb. Our rooms overlooked the ocean and were centrally located to be handy for reception, the VIP bar and VIP pool. We were in block 4. The corridors appear dismal but the rooms were lovely and spacious with a fantastic view. The bed had a topper which made it comfortable and we had lots of towels and a fridge with water, pop and beer replenished each day. No wifi however accessible in the room. You had to be in a public area which was a bit of a nuisance. We travelled as a group of two couples and put in rooms next to each other which we appreciated.
Jorge booked all our restaurants 6 altogether for the week and checked with us daily that everything was to our satisfaction, We didnt have a bad meal in any of them.
Jorge was invaluable and changed a booking so we could go back to one of our favourite restaurants Mylos on our last night. VIP breakfast was in Aqua restaurant and again very good with lovely staff taking our order for freshly cooked food.
We were able to get sunbeds on the VIP beach without a problem although weren't too happy that non VIPs were using the sunbeds and VIP pool without being challenged by the staff. That is a bit annoying when VIP clients have paid extra for the privilege of having quieter areas to use exclusively.
We had communicated with Rossana before we arrived to advise that we would be wanting to upgrade to VIP and she was interested to know if we were happy with the room etc. This was a nice touch.
I have to say we were a bit apprehensive before we went but happy to say we had a good time. I think Jorge is an excellent member of the staff who made such a big difference and made our holiday better than we had imagined it would be.

Room Tip: Block 4 near VIP areas.
