My husband and I had the pleasure of getting to visit this wonderful restaurant the other night.
The restaurant was clean, great cohesive decor, and easy to locate. We ate on the balcony, which was wonderful as an evening rainstorm had washed away the days lingering heat. There is also indoor seating with air conditioning. Service was good, for Cuban standards.
The food was excellent. The prices are fair, the menu has a good selection and the portions extremely generous. My husband had the fish and I had the shrimp enchilade. The enchilade sauce is a tomato and green pepper sauce, which had a lot flavour. Our meals also came with a salad of a mix of fresh and cooked vegetables, which was very appreciated. We were offered the choice of bread or rice. We were so full from our entrees that we chose to skip dessert.
The highlight of our time at Thoms Yadira was getting to speak to the owner. Through him we found out that the restaurant has only been open for 11 months, and heard a few anecdotal stories of his experiences running the place. We will happily come back and recommend it to everyone we know going to Santiago de Cuba.
