Unlike Dorothy's worries in Oz, last evening, for me, was a "tasting menu par excellence". Sharing bites with our guests, I enjoyed grilled romaine salad (sans chicken), lobster bisque, carrot ginger soup, goat cheese brulee, foie gras and grilled sweetbreads in addition to my carpaccio, sauteed sweetbreads and grouper. I can't wait to return; luckily, we are staying thru March 23 and will also have the opportunity to try your Secret Garden Tasting Dinner.
In addition to your wonderful menu, we managed to finish off two excellent wines from your cellar before ending the night with the namesake Papillon by Orin Swift.
I was a bit concerned about the ambiance but the music of Marisela (last visit--Mon/Fri) and the wonderful Sax (Thur/Sat) offset the bustle of the open shopping area; the decorative plants also served to set off the restaurant area and enhance the patio seating arrangements.
I want to offer special thanks for the WONDERFUL, above and beyond service of your staff, especially Kepvin.
We were so appreciative that minor menu alterations such as preparing Grouper instead of Salmon with the herb crust and saffron risotto were accommodated. Truly a memorable evening!
