We visit here several times a year. Whilst its only small its well worth the money and you can use Tesco clubcard vouchers !. My son is 14 and has grown up going here and he still loves it. Fab for all ages. Maybe not quite a full day out but very hands on. Take a picnic or have a quality dinner in the resturant.
I feel a little bad giving a rating of only 3. This place was lovely to visit and the children (both under 5) really enjoyed the time we spent there. The tractor ride was nice, the animals looked well maintained and we were able to feed them, there was a lovely little nature walk too. The best bit by far was the dragon statue which looked as if it weaved in and out of the ground and spat out water every few minutes making a lovely sound and looked fab! However, I was very glad that at £4 or £5 per child/adult, I had used Tesco vouchers to purchase our tickets. I'm not sure I would have felt it was value for money otherwise. If you're good at entertaining yourself and have a picnic to take then you could possibly stretch to staying for more than 2 hours.
We enjoyed the time we spent there but are unlikely to make the trip back again any time soon (we live about an hour away).
What a day out (allow minimum of 2 hours to visit allday is better), lots are parking, gentle walk to entrance, 50p bags of feed can be bought at the shop, (but if feeding the sheep/goats/lamas and cow other visitors drop lots so pick some up and free feeding fun for kids).
Entry Prices are good but internet vouchers can be found. We went in August holidays with 3month old, 5 and 9 year old, me and Grandma. We all had a fab day and are going again today (September) There is lots to see, hands on pet corner, free tractor ride 11am and 4pm. Milking lesson (the kids get to go down and he listens and answers any question no matter how daft he makes the kids feel wonderful and their question important). Need a bit of quiet time there is a peaceful sandpit it you need a break and sit down, or the adventure play area, I picked loads or blackberrys while the kids played when the kids finished we munched on the fruit. The coffee shop (5star sign visible) is clean and cheap food is made fresh, my daughter had the packed lunch my boy finished his bacon bap and had a massive slice of cake we had to take it around with us it was enough for 3. Baby changing is in the disabled toilet (in the shop) it had a radar key but the staff opened it for me without me asking. Everyone was friendly the staff/volunteers are very friendly helpful and everywhere. Pushchair/ Wheel chair friendly but the paths are steep in places so if your arms are up to it enjoy if not ring ahead and they may have some one who can be on hand to push (I never saw a step that could not be access via a slope). We wore trainers, although wellingtons on a wet day is advised and they have welly cleaning areas so you dont get the restaurant or your car muddy. If need be they could have looked after the buggy but you can pop back to the car if you want. I'm on the PTA and I'm going to ask if we can send the kids.
My 3 year old daughter has a love for farms and animals. With so much choice within driving distance from our house, it's a compliment to Greenmeadow Community Farm that it is the most visited attraction of them all (5 times in the last 2 years).
What sets the farm apart from the others are the staff. On our last visit everyone I met had a genuine want to help. The man at the entrance selling duck eggs, the lady in the cafe making tea, the man driving the tractor, the staff doing the cow milking demo... the list goes on.
Its also great to see how they are continuing to invest in the farm, with new additions such as the hatchery and picnic shelter.
This place can really add up to a full family day out if you check the daily events board and take a picnic. My last visit was 4 hours long and only ended as we hadn't arrived until 1pm and teatime was calling.
Make sure you don't miss the adventure playground. It's a bit tucked away but if you have children from 4 upwards they will be happy for hours in this clean and safe area. If only it had a bar for tired parents!
My only moan was on my last visit I promised the daughter a gift and the shop shelves were empty. No doubt the school end of term coaches had been by. No worries, we will be back!
Thank you so much for such a glowing review! We are absolutely delighted that you enjoy the Farm so much and so regularly and look forward to seeing you again soon! Will ensure that your review is shared with all the team in our next staff meeting. Thanks again for taking the time to post :-)
We are lucky as the community farm is a 5 minute drive from us and we visit at least once a month with our 2 small children (1 and 3). They love it. Lots of animals and things to do - tractor ride, massive wooden play park, nature walks and a giant dragon that splashes water at you as you walk past!
Thank you so much for our first review and a great one at that! Thanks for taking the time to post a review and we look forward to seeing you at the Farm again soon :-)
