We took the loop road from the Interstate on our way to Rapid City. It's a bit of a slow drive, but there is so much to see. We truly felt like we were on a different planet because the terrain and views are so different from what we've seen in the past.

We stopped so many times to check out the views that constantly changed. Sometimes we were on top of the hills and other times on the bottom which allowed us to see things from so many different angles.

Do stop at the visitor center. It's well done and gives you good infomation about the area, animals, etc.

There is a lot of wild life that can be seen from the Loop Road from deer to having a herd of big horn sheep walk past my car that you could touch them, there was also plenty of antelope that was grazing less than 20 yards from the road. We loved the closeness of the wild life.

Well, this is one of the best drives in any US national park, and especially terrific during early Spring, as there are young goats roaming around, plenty of prairie dogs and almost no tourists. Highly recommended.

This is a great activity for the day. We spent about 2 hours in this place. It is so much different than the bad lands in N. Dakota.

We visited the Badlands after hearing varying reviews and decided we had to see it for ourselves. Wow we were so glad that we did! This area is like nothing you have seen before! The colors are so beautiful. Different colored stripey crags and crevices mostly below where you are standing rather than above like a mountain would be. We spent a lot of time driving through here and stopping every so often. We were told it wasn't worth our time, but we would wholeheartedly disagree!
