Gorgeous boutique hotel in the heart of Senglea

Review of The Snop House
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Oct 24, 2024
We knew this gorgeous boutique hotel when living in Senglea. It was fabulous to stay for the Middlesea race last weekend. We had a smaller room at the back with a little balcony and it was perfect. Tasty breakfast in the morning. If you want to experience non-touristy local Malta this is the perfect location. Lots of restaurants nearby and it is an easy ferry crossing to Valletta every 30 minutes.

We spent 4 nights at the Snop House. It was wonderful. Lovely small hotel. Great location for the waterfront, access to Valletta, local restaurants, bus stop, fabulous staff who looked after us brilliantly. Great tips from Shawn. Tasty breakfast with different daily treats. Oh and a great roof terrace with great views across the 3 cities. We’s definitely stay there again.

Room tip: Bus stop a few paces from the hotel and reliable. Pick up a travel card at the airport.

Our stay at The Snop House was our first experience in Malta and it was a delight. Having it as a base to explore the three cities and Valletta worked brilliantly. Sean and the staff were lovely and the breakfast was brilliant. We stayed in room two and had access to a lovely galleria, the room is spacious with a great ensuite . Your also have access to a lovely roof terrace with amazing views and was lovely to sit up there with a cold drink in the evenings before heading down either to the waterfront or into the letter for dinner.

I can say in advance that I felt very comfortable in this small hotel. Everything went smoothly with the arrival at the airport and the transfer to the hotel, except that our driver had some trouble finding the hotel. With Google Maps, it was quicker in the end :-). The check-in process was also smooth. The reception was very pleasant, competent, and friendly. Our room was as expected, clean, and tastefully furnished. The bathroom and toilet were spotless. The rooms and the hotel entrance are accessible with a code, which I found quite convenient. Breakfast was served to us. Whether you prefer this over a buffet is a matter of taste. The breakfast selection was completely sufficient, whether sweet or savoury. On two weekdays, there were roadworks outside. Thanks to the high-quality windows and doors, the soundproofing was excellent, and the noise disturbance was minimal. The room service was also always top-notch. Fresh towels, toiletries, and two new bottles of water in the fridge every day. And not in cheap plastic bottles, but in tasteful glass bottles. The lack of a TV in the room didn't really detract from the overall experience. I deducted one star for the broken lift and the roadworks. Would I book this hotel again? Definitely YES.

Beautifully refurbished small town house boutique hotel in historic area of The Three Cities. Rooms were well furnished with modern art throughout the hotel. Lovely en-suite room with enclosed balcony (Gallarija) with morning sun. The house manager, Sean, was amazingly attentive and helpful offering details of local bars and restaurants and attractions. Short ferry trip to Valletta. Lots to see locally.

Room tip: Park in white bays only. You will find places nearby if you look. Check ferry times. Check weather forecast before setting off.
