Very good start to our trip

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Aug 17, 2024
I didn't know what to expect on hotels in Japan. Yes, size will be smaller than in other countries but what else would be different?

This property is the perfect place to acclimatise and familiarise yourself with teh country and culture.

It is located very close to Exit 1 off the Nishi-shinjuku station which is the next one after Shinjuku station. As others have noted, lots of shops around with a Yoshinoya (I think) at the corner. While it is a 'chain' restaurant, one must try eating there as the food is very tasty and cheap.

There are ice machines which produced the perfect size ice cubes for our drink bottle (a must during hot summer days - 35C!). It provides amenities, from tea bags to comb and lotion. Pick up as much as you need. Bathtub allowed soaking our weary bones after a long day of walking and eating our way through Shinjuku and Shibuya.

Breakfast was plentiful with enough varieties, Japanese and Western. You can order eggs, cooked the way you like it. Don't forget to try the individually packaged seaweed. The staff was attentive and helpful. As always, it would get busy from 8am-ish.

Their restaurant was popular with locals, as you can get a platter for around 5000 yen, feeding several people.

All in all, I would definitely come back to stay at this property if I'm staying in the Shinjuku area.

Stayed here with my husband and two teenage children for six nights. Beautiful bathroom and can tell that it has been recently renovated. The room was a little tight with four single beds but that was to be expected in Japan. Both room and bathroom were nice and clean with towels, toiletries and water replenished daily.

The location of this hotel was perfect. 7/11 on one side, Family mart and Nishishinjuku on the other and McDonald’s directly opposite. Make sure you go to the Can do shop (100 yen) nearby as you can buy lots of small items. Shinjuku station was a 13 minute walk.

We used the limobus from the airport which dropped us off locally and then it was a short walk to the hotel.

Breakfast was served in a restaurant adjacent to the hotel. It was limited but everything was fresh and of a good standard.

Room tip: Restaurants nearby close quite early so make sure to eat early evening.

We stayed for a few nights at this location. It is superb by all means-close to train station, convenience stores and restaurants. The only disappointment is the size of the rooms. They are tiny and no connecting rooms are offered if you are booking 2 rooms side by side. Place was clean. Breakfast is paid via cash/credit card but not much selection.

I had a very early morning bus to Mt. Fuji from Shinjuku station and wanted to stay somewhere close by. I found this place online, the price was decent and the reviews were good. For some reason, the online booking system wasn’t working for me so I walked over. By the time I got there, the price had gone up 30% and the only room left was the bunk bed room. I was already there so took the room. I walked into a VERY hot room and a thermostat only in Japanese that I couldn’t figure out how to turn on. I found a maid and she turned on the AC. The thermostat would not go below 22C (72F) - a little hot for me but I figured I’d deal with it. I needed a good night of sleep as I was about to miss a night of sleep while hiking up Mt. Fuji. I woke up sweltering at 3 AM as my AC had turned off and my room was 28C (83F) and sadly never fell back to sleep. Also my room’s Toto bidet did not work and while there was a hot water tea pot, there were no tea bags. Some hair (not mine) in the bathroom. Could have been better.

We stayed here a full week.
The room is quite small.
The service is very friendly at the front desk.
The breakfast buffet was smaller than I had expected, but ok. They also function as a restaurant at evenings, and it was ok.
Location is close to a subway station, and it is one stop to Shinjuku.
From the airport, if you have luggage, I would suggest to take the Airport Limousine Bus to Tokyo Hilton and from there it is a short walk to this hotel. This way you do not need to go with your luggage in local trains/subway, which is not recommended.
There is a microwave oven in the laundry room, if you wish to warm your own food, which you can buy e.g. from the Family Mart nearby. Or they can also warm it for you at the FamilyMart.
I wish we had stayed maybe even closer to Shinjuku or Shibuya, but this was ok.
There is a hospital near, so on many nights we woke up to the sirens, so there is some noise from the street.

We stayed in a double room (non-smoking) in the annex, and overall we really liked the hotel but our only complaint is that the room is very small, so if you're staying in Japan for a long holiday and you're bringing large suitcases then I would recommend paying a bit more to book a larger room.
The hotel is a ten minute walk East of main Shinjuku station and it's away from the hustle and bustle of the main shopping area so it's nice and quiet, while still being within reach of the main attractions of Shinjuku. The annex building is very cute and charming with roses growing around the entrance, and a nice communal seating area downstairs (if you don't have space to sit in your room, which we didn't because our suitcases were occupying every spare space!).
The breakfast options are great, both Western and Japanese options available and omelettes cooked fresh on demand. The restaurant also offers decent Italian dining in the evening, would definitely recommend eating there if you don't want to venture out to the many restaurants around Shinjuku.
The staff speak good English and we found that everyone was very helpful.
Overall I would highly recommend the hotel, and would stay here again, but next time would pay extra for a larger room!
