The location is so convenient, just few steps away of subway station. We arrived the restaurant before noon time, so we could be seated right away. Our orders had been served within 15 minutes. The xiao long bao was very juicy, and stir-fried pea sprout was fine. Just disappointed about the noodles which was so oily. Nevertheless, the service was attentive and efficient, both waiter & waitress were polite.

Food was alright. The pan fried bun wasn’t amazing even though it was their signature dish. Price were a little high compared to the typical restaurant around the area.

Had the Shanghai pan fried buns and the shrimp/pork sew mai. Both were very good. The tea is poured by the servers. No teapot is left on the table. Trouble is the servers don’t look to see if ur teacup needs filling. Not sure what they are looking for when the glance at your table—maybe just to see if you have empty serving dishes or steam baskets. You have to constantly waive them over for tea. The cups are small. I’d rather have a teapot and get it when I need it instead of waiting for someone to notice me.

The xiao long bao here is pretty good, thin skin with flavorful fillings of pork, cabbage and water chestnut. We also tried the siew mai, glutinous rice with abalone. All dishes were not disappointing at all, we also loved the freshness of cucumber starter dish. Quick service, has another outlet in Zhongshan.

This restaurant is just steps away from the 1st Din Tai Fung. We came as we read some recommendations that their xiao long bao is equally good or better and my daughters are big xiao long bao fan.

Our verdict, Din Tai Fung xiao long bao is better. Fried rice in Din Tai Fung is much better as Kao Chi’s fried rice is way too peppery.

Kao Chi’s staff mentioned that they are more known for their Shen Jian Bao “fried buns” and it was pretty good. Kao Chi’s dong po rou was also excellent. I would recommend going Kao Chi for these 2 items and not their xiao long bao or fried rice
