I'd heard about Snow King through a offbeat tourism website and knew I had to go when I found out they serve Pork Knuckle ice cream. I love tasting unique variations of otherwise common food and this sounded too outrageous to miss.
The shop was closed when I arrived but Google Translate helped me decipher a sign on the door which said they were opening at 4pm on this particular day. I spent a few hours exploring the local area and returned shortly after 4. It was worth the wait.
It was no surprise but the Pork Knuckle recipe wasn't appetizing at all. Imagine chomping into a salty scoop of ice cream with chewy, fatty knobs of pig skin mixed through. I admit I didn't finish it. But I was very happy to have tried something so ridiculous which you would NEVER see for sale at a western ice creamery.
I don't mean to put anyone off - there are dozens of normal/delicious flavours available as well. But if you're a foodie who tends to the adventurous side of things, you absolutely need to try this place out.
