Renown for oyster omelet, steam crab over sweet rice and the surprise mochi at the end of every meal. Impeccable service and nice ambience. Do note is u r going in on weekends and peak hours, u better make reservations to avoid disappointment.

The food here is very good quality. We recommend the clams, unagi, and the eggplant salad. The 'mild' spicy tofu was quite spicy. The sashimi, while it was excellent quality fish, was expensive and the soy sauce was not the traditional Japanese taste we were used to. They don't serve drinks by the glass, so we bought bottles of beer, wine and juice for the three of us. The restaurant is family friendly, but as a result it has a noisy, bustling atmosphere. There is a bit of confusion as to the naming, as there is another Umeko restaurant (of the same branch) directly across the road that serves Japanese cuisine. The food was nice and we would definitely go again.

I love their food! We wanted to order so many things for dinner but everything was so great we had them packed up to enjoy during supper (though this place runs til late like 2 AM). The highlight for me was the peanut with small fish cooked with garlic and chilli. They are the best! They served mochi for dessert accompanied by some chinese tea. They let us stay for as long as we like after the meal (we were so full so barely able to walk, thanks for the good meal) and had one of the best dining experience while in Taipei. Will definitely come back here!
