Nearby 101, it is like a paradise. I enjoyed Lawry’s rare California cut and Italian wine. The people were frendliness. Definetly try Lawry’s place. Barbera d’Alba was great.

Good service, we had reservations, restaurant was relatively empty but as we arrived a few minutes early they seated us at the rather small, poorly stocked bar while we waited for our table. The service was attentive, but very formal. Once seated, we were promptly greeted by our server, she was very attentive, explained the menu and options. The food quality was good, not great, portions were ok, what we expected in Taipei. The meat quality was too, just “ok”, if you are going to serve beef with only a butter knife to cut, you better be sure the quality of the meat is worthy of such; it was not. A little tough at times and a challenge to cut. If you are dying for prime rib I would say “ok”, we probably will not be back.

We are not a fan of the spinning bowl of salad, too acidic and less textured, could use some bacon bits. The appetizers were great, poached egg and seared scallops. The soups were short of abysmal, tomato and mushroom tasted like it's fresh off from the tin. The foie gras was OK but the sous-vide abalone left me wanting, I still need to figure out what is it. Our California cut steak was not at all bad, it was carved to our liking with medium and well parts in preferred proportion, the spinach was good. Desserts were nothing special and the wine list is OK. Value for money is not good at all but you can definitely have a pleasant eating experience. You can probably dine in here once a year, not the holidays though, for a relaxed dining experience capping the night off with a Vin rosé.

Strong brand and consistency for this global chain, 1st time in taipei branch for me

High ceiling restaurant, but no view as it's in the basement of bank of china building, between xiangshan station and taipei main station

Lawry's specialises in prime rib, so steak purists may not like it

They have 4 different cuts ranging from 6 oz to 16 oz. My partner had the 16oz jim brady cut. With the bone and so much fat, i think the 12oz lawry's cut may better. My 7.5oz was perfect, and i could even settle for 6 oz as each set has mash potato, pudding and salad

The scallop was a surprise, a sad little thing on a large plate

Service is great, like most taiwan restaurants

Do visit on Prime Ribs Day and that you can enjoy the all-you-can-eat prime ribs. Nice salad and wine, too.
