Bubble tea was invented in Taipei at Chun Shui Tang. The original location isn't around anymore, but the tradition continues at this location, just a short walk from MRT Taipei Arena station. Furthermore, it's not just about the pearl milk tea. It's an entire culinary experience, therefore, please order some food to go with your tea.
How it works here is: if you're ordering to go, go to the counter.
If you're dining in, tell the hostess how many, be seated, fill out the menu you're given, go to the counter, pay for your meal and place the order number with your receipt attached on your table.
Various waitstaff will bring your items to your table as they come up. Once all your items are delivered to your table, your order number is taken away.
First things first, drinks. I ordered a medium bubble tea with half sugar and half ice. It was huge. Not too sweet and the pearls weren't too big or chewy.
To go with, I ordered some turnip cakes, Japanese poached egg, grilled pork sausage and roasted sweet potato with cheese.
While this makes for a wonderful solitary indulgence, please feel free to bring a friend or two. This place is so wonderful!
