Be Careful Booking this Resort

1.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Dec 10, 2023via mobile

We booked this resort on Expedia few months back, then the day of our reservation we arrived in the area at 6pm only to find out that there is no evening water shuttles from the main area to the island, their official policy states check in at 1500 and or anytime afterwards but then at bottom of booking it states CUSTOMER must contact hotel 72 hours out which we didnt since no hotel/resort in my lifetime of traveling ever had such a requirement since usually hotel/resort contacts the customer

End result we lost our first night of reservation since according to Philippine Coast Guard no boat to resort after dark, that was not listed oj the booking site anywhere, we ended up staying at a 2 star hotel that night and get this the resort reimburse thqt hotel the approx $45 cost (from what we understand this is common practice since we were not first couple that got stranded by their misleading check in time.

I contacted EXPEDIA who according to the agent tried to contact propery 6 times but to no avail and our tour guide tried to contact them that evening but also no on answered

Resort refused our request for partial refund due to their allegation we never contacted them 72 hours in advance and forgot to mention we booked a non Refundable rate

Poor customer service from resort and Expedia , this is my first ever complaint in all of my years of traveling

The resort is very nice, but the only issue is that their website or booking agent have no information that their check-in time may be 1500 hrs but the LAST boat to the island is 1600 hrs. So if you are not at the boat area by 4pm you will have to spend a night at a close by hotel and still pay for a night that you could not get to the island.

Basically, they get a free night charge from the customer not making it to the island on time and the earliest you can check in for a room is 1400 hrs so really a lose lose for the customer should they have adventures planned past 4 pm.

Room tip: Check in at 2pm no boats to take guests to the island after 4pm. They will not work with their guests on refunds.

Our stay in Bluewater Sumilon Island was beyond exceptional! From approachable and accommodating staff, to their scrumptious food and of course to its calm and breathtaking views and its pristine waters.
The moment that we landed in the island I knew that this is going to be worthwhile and it didn't fail me.

Now, if you're looking for a relaxing place away from the hustle and bustle in the city, I absolutely recommend this place.

One thing I would say...we'll definitely be coming back to this treasure.

P.S.
My nephews enjoyed the kids playground and baby shark feeding which we almost forgot that it's time to checkout already!
Kudos to Lendie Catubig for taking care of us ensuring that we experience the best stay.

P.P.S
See photos and videos for a virtual experience and soon of course, personally experience the vibe.

Bluewater Sumilon is the only luxury resort near Oslob, Cebu, and the only resort in Sumilon Island. Early booking is advised so that you can get a cheaper rate as their regular rates are quite expensive. The resort is clean, spacious, and very relaxing. Even if there are numerous guests booked at the resort, you wouldn’t get that cramped or crowded feeling at all. I appreciate the fact that they gave us the very first cottage with a beachfront view without us asking. It was due to the fact that I was with my 80-year old mother who understandably finds it difficult to walk long distances. Otherwise, the hotel offers free pick up and drop off at any area of the resort. Except for the multiple van and ferry transfers required to reach and get out of the resort from Dumaguete, I’d highly recommend Bluewater Sumilon for honeymooners, families, and groups of friends. The resort offers daytime tours for outsiders but for the best experience, checking in is a must!

Room tip: Land in Dumaguete airport, and be prepared for the multiple van and ferry transfers to Sunilon that will take 2 hours.

Everywhere was clean and nice. The stuff were super friendly and the food and drinks were so good. The room itself is quite nice and spacious with a nice porch overlooking the pool and good size bathroom. Thank you so much for such a great experience.

We stayed in a beach bungalo for 2 nights and enjoyed our stay. It is quiet and there is not a lot to really do other than relax. The reef had been ruined by typhoons so snorkelling was poor though diving ok. The island walk is ok but not special. Food was fine with breakfast very good. Drinks were very expensive. The hotel arranges Oslob whale shark sightseeing everyday from 9-12.
