We chose this resort because of its proximity to the Oslob whaleshark tours We took the 30-minute ferry from Dumaguete at 6:30 am, swam with the whale sharks and visited Tumalog fallls all morning, and were on the boat to Sumilon by 1pm. Made up of only 31 villas, all with water views, it is indeed a beautiful resort. We stayed 5 nights. The premiere villa I shared with my husband had a smart TV, but our children’s villa only had a regular TV with cable. The beds were comfortable and the air conditioning very cold, and therefore sleep quality was good, but it would have been nice to have a duvet. Only 2 bottles of water were provided per day. The toiletries were of such poor quality that we had to take the boat back into town the next day to buy supplies of shampoo and conditioner, 10-liter jugs of water, and snacks like chips and chocolate. Only 1 restaurant was open during our stay. The breakfast buffet was delicious and plentiful. For lunch and dinner, we always went ala carte, and the best dishes are the grilled stuffed squid and beef bulgogi. Special mention must be made of waiter William, who is the most efficient, and really goes out of his way to please you. Our days were spent snorkeling at the sandbar and the beach in front of the restaurant, and we all had a lovely stay at Bluewater Sumilon. We will probably go back if and when all the villas are equipped with smart TV’s, and not just the premier villas.
