Decent enough

3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed May 29, 2017
Last minute decision to have a weekend get away. My friend and I went on a day trip and picked Laluz among the many other resorts in Laiya. Getting to the place, it wasn't pleasant as you can imagine because you have to get in a small barangay before reaching the resort. There is no nice facade, no impressive entrance whatsover. But as you get inside, it was decent enough. The cabanas are nice, beach beds are available, as well as the picnic tables, and it's all free of charge (no extra charge). You can book in advance if you are of a large group, but in our case, it was only me and my friend, so we just walked in and as expected, no more cabana available anymore
but we were happy to find available bamboo beach beds in shaded area for us to chill. Day tour rate is inclusive of lunch and snack. Hence for those who will check in a bit late, the rate is lower as they will exclude lunch and just keep the free snacks. the shore is short, but if you are into snorkeling, then you would enjoy much its water. Life vest are provided for safety. Various water sports are available in a reasonable price. There's resto bar where you can order drinks and other snacks. The toilets are clean as well as the dining area. The free snacks are simple yet nicely cooked. There are rooms available for those who wants to stay over night (of course with charge). It was simple, yet decent enough. I enjoyed its chill vibe. Only though, the massage wasn't available if you are not booked in a room or cabana. I hope the owners can provide one spot where people can go and have a massage just like how it's like in other resorts. Other than this, i have nothing bad to say.

We were looking for a twist for our health & fitness activity in the office when we chanced upon a picture of a group playing with a giant soccer ball, and we knew we had to try it. We booked a day tour at La Luz Beach Resort in Laiya Batangas. It was a good package for PhP1.035/head with buffet lunch & afternoon snacks. So off we went leaving Pasig by 5AM we had a Giant Volleyball game going by past 9am. It was Blue versus White teams, and both teams brought their competitive spirit to the fore. Good thing it was cloudy skies as the game progressed until lunch time. The resort was well-equiped for team building activities - tires & relay areas on the sand, but they would be great for family or barkada bonding as well. After the game, its free for all to enjoy the sand (or more like pebbles) and water sports like the kayak, banana boat and the floating bamboo houses. They have the usual massage and other resort amenities. The beach is not exactly child-friendly. Tide is strong but life vests are available. Service staff were friendly. It would be great though if they would refurbish the shower rooms & rest rooms. Still, it was a great day to burn calories and chill with the gang. I can definitely see myself coming back.

Room tip: Beach front rooms give easy access to the beach & a small veranda to enjoy the view

There are several things to do for your liking aside from swimming, For kids, sandbox, play areas.. for the adults sun lounger and cabanas, massage volleyball, soccer, bikes, banana boat and island hopping (outsource). Beach is white but sand is grainy. Dorm room is fine, towel is provided. Problem is the water on the common CR is not functioning well. Buffet food is okay but nothing too grand. We were given huge discount from a friend who used to work there so its a plus. Staffs were very accommodating and friendly. Free water and juice even while swimming. Life vests and snorkling gears are provided for free. We were allowed late check out for free. I hope they'll have a pool in the future

The place is nice. The room we stayed is was comfortable. One thing i didn't like is when the water in the bathroom is not enough and you can't even have a good shower. The food can sometimes be too salty and they always ran out of food with the bulk of people whether it be breakfast, lunch, dinner or merienda. All in all the place is just average

I have been to La Luz several times. Like more than 6 times (you can check my instagram). Last Sunday (April 30th) I went there will all our company crew for a company outing. Everything was in chaos. Information line was so long. They only gave 1 cabaña for all of us (21 persons) to stay. Then came lunch time, the line was long and the food was not enough (sans those people who take so many foods and just throw them away). Lot of us didn't have a good meal at all. Same with the "merienda" time. The line was also long and everyone is taking so much food and just leave it, what a waste of food.

Bottomline is, they should always be ready if they take this kind of volume of visitors. They should always have enough food. Penalize those who waste foods. And maybe the better way is to not overbook. Don't be greedy!

Room tip: Get the pavilion room it's so cozy and big.
