Exceptional customer service

Review of Bohol Shores
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Jan 28, 2024
My partner and I enjoyed our stay in this resort and we would like to thank the staffs for the exceptional customer service provided to us, specifically to Marino in restaurant and Ms. Charles at front desk. Your suggestions help us alot to make our stay enjoyable. We suggest during flies season to provide those electric insect repellent for the restaurant and you may also consider planting citronella around the swimming pool area to lessen mosquitoes. Overall the complementary breakfast/ dinner were good but would be better to add more options / variants for those who don’t eat rice much.
Highly recommended and keep up the good work.

Room Tip: Their breakfast is semi buffet, mains have to order a day before.

I'm surprise to read quite a few negative reviews here about this hotel. Unfortunately, it pulled their ratings down as well. Too bad as this hotel really did a great job for us.

First off, the staff was friendly and super accommodating! This is a last minute overnight booking for us. We were supposed to stay with a family but since our flight got delayed, we had to book here for the meantime. The late night airport transfer (airport pick-up) was the most convenient, as well as very helpful. The driver even offered to take us grocery shopping if needed. I mean, our flight arrived 1030pm via Korea (with 10hours layover) so both my teen son and I were exhausted. It's good to know we have someone reliable and friendly waiting for us. Despite the late night check-in, the staffs were smiling, cheerful and gave us a welcome lei necklace or shell necklace. It's my teen son's first time in Bohol, so he was happy at this unexpected welcome experience. Furthermore, our booking included a dinner for 2 but since we missed that due to our flight delay and will be checking out the next day, the staff changed that to 2 free lunch instead. That's another convenience for us, since our family will pick us up after lunch the next day.

Our room and bathroom was clean and comfortable - 2 double beds, strong shower pressure, cold a/c and our room included a welcome water bottles for us, which again is an add on convenience for us (esp. arriving super late at night). With a teen in tow, WiFi is important. No issues on that as their WiFi was pretty strong. The hotel itself is situated in the quiet side of Pangloa, which is a plus for us exhausted travelers. We slept and rested very well that night after a nice hot shower.

The next day, my teen was excited to look around the hotel property. The pool area was clean, huge and nicely decorated. It has that island feel to it. Unfortunately, it rained and there's a lightning/thunder alert hence he was unable to swim in the pool. However, we had fun strolling around the property. It has a welcoming vibe to it. We ate at their restaurant for lunch, even invited family over.

Over all, a convenient, relaxing- stress free and comfortable overnight stay here. Will we stay here again? Definitely!

I wish I never booked at this hotel. I stay approx 70-90 nights a year in a hotel. Mostly due to work and I expect this to be the worst hotel I will stay at in 2023. We booked a poolside room and we're no ware near the pool. They added a 3k a day fee for my 2 year old to join us. With a non refundable room I had to pay and extra 6k for my 2 year old I couldn't leave him in the lobby for 2 days. The bed was hard and uncomfortable. We ended up leaving after one night and spent 18k for one night at this hotel in total. Even after talking to the manager we got no ware. I believe this hotel has poI believe this has policies from management that are setup to take advantage of the tourists and the local staff have no authority to take do anything about it. I felt bad for those staff caught in the middle. In summary if your on vacation don't stay at this hotel you don't need the stress.

Room tip: The pool was nice.

    Hi Departure681380,

Thank you so much for airing your complaints. We do appreciate valued guests informing us of any grievance as we see them as opportunities to improve the standards in service and facilities we ardently wish to maintain.

Please accept our sincerest apology for the P3,000.00 charge per day you mention, please understand that your reservation online is for 2 persons only. However, upon your check-in there are 2 additional extra persons (In-laws) plus 1 child (2yrs old). As explained during your check-in the P3,000.00 per day is for the 2 extra adults (1,500.00 per head per day with breakfast) and not for the child since our child policy for 5years old and below is free maximum of 2 kids without breakfast.

With regards to your room Deluxe Poolside. Kindly be advise that we have 2 Deluxe Room Category.
    1. Deluxe - Facing the main road
    2. Deluxe Poolside - Facing our big Pool

Please accept our sincere apology if you assumed that your room is beside the Pool. However displayed photos of our Deluxe Poolside Rooms in online and in our website shows that the rooms have Veranda overlooking the pool and not besides the Pool.

With regards to the cancellation policy of your online agent, kindly coordinate to them but as far as Bohol Shores is concerns, cancellation on the day of arrival will be forfeited or considered as no show, please accept our sincere apology.

With regards to the bed you mentioned we will definitely review but as far as the management is concern the quality of bed we provide to our guests is one of the best brands. Many of our guests give us good feedback not only in Bohol Shores also to our 3 resorts (2 in Boracay & 1 in Baguio).

We deeply appreciate the patience you've extended despite the shortcomings. We also wish that you've somehow enjoyed the rest of the service and facilities we've provided in high hopes that they've in some ways defrayed the displeasures. Much obliged.

Okay.. definitely there is a shore but it's not something you can go to and walk around.. cliffs and rocks. Now onto the rooms . The aircon is a nightmare and noisy.. it shakes up the whole room . It old and needs to be changed. Leaving food outside is a disaster with the attack from ants. The rooms are fine aside those. Breakfast is not so waking up for .. heavy breakfast though others might like it. It's not far from the main town. I stayed in the room and heard the poolside rooms are spacious and Aircon better but the price is crazy high. Staff as always are helpful, friendly and nice.

    Bohol Shores
Stayed here 4 nights after staying at another Panglao property 5 nights previous. The original place was 1/2 the price. We chose the poolside villa to celebrate my wife’s birthday. This was our 5th time in the Philippines, but first time in Bohol. We are mid- to high-end travelers and tend to try to stay in nice places with great service.

    The pros:
The aircon in the room was fantastic.
TV (although not why you come on vacation, but great for naps with the toddler) had plenty of international channels
    Bed was comfy
Room was as described- spacious with plenty of storage for clothes and goodies
Pool was nice and did have an area for our little guy to play
Happy hour 4-7pm with 20% off drinks was nice
Close to Bee Farm which had amazing food!!

    The cons:
Staff were not all that inviting in comparison to other places we visited in Bohol. I almost felt I was inconveniencing them by being at the resort.
Wi-Fi did not work in our villa which was quite close to the lobby (again, not why you come to the Philippines but makes checking into flights, calling back home, etc much easier)
We had multiple water issues. Turned off at one point completely mid-shower. Hot water went out. Most of the stay, it was brownish. Again, I realize where I am, but we did not have this issue during our five nights at our first property where we paid 1/2 the price of Bohol Shores.
There was a small conference going on during our stay and the property was busy. Nights 2&3, the rooms were not cleaned until we left for dinner. The excuse was that the rooms that were for new guests got priority which made us feel like we didn’t matter much. We were out of the room from 10am-4pm both days and put the ‘clean me’ sign out. Again, a small issue but it sucks to come back to a dirty room, dirty towels, no soap, etc after a day out (especially when paying what we did for the villa).
Most of the tile in the lobby and on the porch of the rooms was extremely slippery (yes it rained when we were there but also it’s a resort with a huge pool where people will almost always be trekking water around with them). Was tough to let our son run around without the fear of getting hurt.
They have a major bird problem. It didn’t really bother us, but if you like sleeping in, don’t expect to be in bed past 6am as the birds start to play in the rafters of the porch just as the sun rises.
Lastly… price gouging. I understand this may be because the property is trying to be upscale, but it was just a bit disappointing to pay 600 for a tricycle ride that I know costs 300. Same with motorbike rentals, tours, etc. The hotel staff booked it all for you and took a commission (tricycle driver informed me). F&B was a bit expensive and we were threatened at checkin not to bring in anything or else there would be a fee. They charge 100 for a big bottle of water that is 30 a two min walk from the property. I just felt nickel and dimed while so many other places were so hospitable and our previous property even provided free transportation around the island as well as free motorbikes during our stay.

By no means was the stay awful, but we just felt like we were not welcomed in and treated as guests but rather customers and a source of income at every turn. It is clear the property is a bit older, somewhat understaffed, and still cleaning up after the last storm.
