Okay, so in my opinion the Centara Villa’s are not 4 star by international standards, they are 2-3 star at best, however the service you receive from staff is definitely 5 star.

Unfortunately, our holiday did not get off to a great start after we were offered a bog standard villa next to the lower pool with no view of the ocean. I explained to staff that we had booked and paid for a deluxe ocean facing villa and asked to be moved. We were then offered the villa next door which again i declined, stating that this was not an ocean facing villa as described in the holiday brochure and on their website (unobstructed views). The man that i spoke to tried to convince me that both rooms were ocean facing until i reminded him that the different room types have different coloured bedding. We settled on villa 311 which had a small view of the ocean through the trees.

The room itself was okay, the bed was very comfortable and the shower was lovely however, we had to call reception on many occasions as the electricity and air con kept breaking down.

The villas are in a really peaceful location however, it’s impossible to walk into Karon on an evening as there are no paths and the road is dangerously busy. You have to order a taxi from reception which is more expensive than the taxi’s that bring you back. I think people with walking difficulties would really struggle here.

With regards to breakfast, there was a decent amount of choice but the quality of product in my opinion was very poor. I stuck to salad every morning which was always dry. The food in the Cliff Restaurant was better and the views overlooking Karon, beautiful.

The grounds and the pool areas could do with a makeover as they are not well maintained.

After staying at the Centara Grand in Karon a couple of years ago, we booked this sister hotel as we liked the idea of having our own villa, however we left feeling disappointed and would not return again.

Dear lorna d,

Thank you for choosing to stay with us and for having shared your feedback via Tripadvisor.
I’m sorry to read that your recent stay was not an entire enjoyable one. I have reviewed your feedback carefully and will work for rectification and improvement accordingly.

With regard to the swimming pool, I can ensured you that it has been maintaining according to Hygiene and safety standard as well a daily cleaning. The ground / landscaping is also maintaining, tidying daily as to keep it most beautiful, include trimming for a nicer view within a Resort. Despite some aspects may not to your expectation, we hope you will afford us further by choosing to stay at Centara Villas Phuket again.
That will allow us to demonstrate improvements.

We stayed here in March 18 for 14 nights and it was terrible.
Firstly this hotel is in a great location for the view but in a terrible location in regards to Karon itself. It is impossible to walk into Karon on an daytime or evening. On a daytime you have to negotiate a beach path which is at best overgrown and full of litter and at best dangerous, then cross 2 estuaries on the beach to get to Karon and on an evening the beach path is closed so you need to get a taxi from the hotel which they arrange for you surprisingly enough for 250 baht each way. There is no way to walk into Karon on an evening as its too far away and the main road is dangerously busy with no footpath along it.
We booked in and we were told that our room wouldn't be ready for another 2 hours but told we could use the bar near the pool which we did. When our room was finally ready the porter came to get us and led us to our "ocean facing villa" which actually looked over the lower pool and you couldn't even see the sea, beach or the bay from any part of it.
After my wife pointed this out to the porter he made a phone call to reception and then offered us one of two other villas one of which we accepted mostly due to the fact that we had been traveling for over 24 hours and needed to sleep.
Throughout our stay in this room the air con went off constantly (not good when its 35 degrees) electricity went off constantly and wifi was the same. I know this sounds petty but its infuriating to spend your holiday waiting for an engineer to fix things when your only there for 2 weeks.
The hotel plays on its views which are amazing from the Cliff restaurant and probably 2 or 3 villas but from everywhere else on the site the grounds are so overgrown and badly maintained all you can see is trees and bushes.
I think there are 70 odd villas on this site and we counted 12 sunbeds around the lower pool and 8 beds around the upper pool ???.
Both pools are badly maintained and we never seen either of them being cleaned in all our stay and our room looked over the upper pool. On the few occasions we sat at the upper pool it was swarmed with flies and it was full of leaves from the overgrown trees.
I don't feel I'm being totally negative towards this place as the staff are so nice and really helpful it is also really quiet and relaxing we also had several meals in the Cliff restaurant and the food was nice enough however the breakfast is very poor quality to say the least.
The villas are really scruffy externally and the glass roof to the shower area is so filthy you cant even see through it. The daily cleaning is questionable but the bed was really comfortable and the shower itself was powerful and always warm.
To summarise in my opinion this hotel is 2 or 3 star at best and badly in need of a revamp and a decent maintenance program to bring it up in standard. The staff are great and it could be a really nice Hotel with some effort. It wasn't what we expected from a 4 star Centara hotel at all

Room Tip: rooms nearer the reception have the best views and you dont need to suffer the tuk tuk to get to reception

Dear 69KBD,

Greetings from Phuket,

Thank you for sharing your review via Tripadvisor. I have reviewed them carefully and will surely take into account to work for improvements where possible. With regard to the pathway to the Beach, I can ensure you that it is safe and we have been cleaning this pathway down to the public Beach regularly. It may seen not very clean sometime due to the poor habit of some people that careless and just left behind the garbage after enjoyed the Beach! The footpath to Karon centre is something beyond our authorization, however would include your comments in a summary and report to the concern authority.

With regard to swimming pool, surely they have been cleaning daily early morning and this done before guests are relaxing around the Pools. A landscape has been looking after and I can ensured that we do our best to retain plants / trees and all the areas look as nice as possible during the hot and dry season on the Island.

Thank you for your compliments on our nice and helpful staff, this will encourage us to work harder to keep up facilities and service standard.

We hope to having chance to welcome you back to Centara Villas Phuket again in the not too distance future.

Best regards,
Opas

Centara villas is the property in the Lap of nature and on Karon beach. Well maintained property. Staff very courteous and helpful at Restaurant and Reception and man at travel desk was very helpful. Patong the most happening place was not more than 10 minutes drive and you can get easily tuk-tuk and Van. Over in all very good experience.

Beautiful place... beautiful nature and more. The villas between the trees are beautiful. Staff are amazing and smiling people. All very willing. The food was very tasty. I personally was very excited and amazed. In the hotel at the reception there is the possibility of buying a trip to different places. From the restaurant you can see the beach and the statue of the big buddha. I will never forget this place.

We spent a fabulous few days here. Staff were very pleasant and helpful and it has the added bonus that you can use the pool and other facilities at the Centara Grand on the beach. Buffet breakfast was excellent.
