We booked the kata poolside resort last minuet.

I whizzed through other reviews, looked at the price and decided I'd take the risk (as this place has a lot of negative reviews, albeit mostly the older ones)

I had called and asked them to arrange a taxi from Phuket airport, the taxi was waiting for us as requested, this was a blessing as Phuket airport at 3pm was absolute chaos.

We got to the hotel and we were greeted by wonderful reception staff, hugely helpful, fantastic English, and very knowledgeable.

When we were shown to our room the guy who had took our bags for us explained everything, the air con, safe etc. He was lovely.

The room was huge, and bed was comfortable, we were pleased to see the bath and shower option too.

The tailor that so many people have commented on was a nice guy, he greeted us every time he saw us and was pleasant while trying to sell his services.
The tailors on the streets are a lot pushier, intimidating and irritating.

Hotel restaurant was nice, great pizza & seafood. 10% off voucher for hotel guests too BONUS!

Anyone who has been in Thailand more than an hour will have noticed that 90% of the place is in need of either repairs or modernisation. The kata poolside resort could use a little modernisation and some new beach towels but the whole place is spotless, functional and pleasurable......what more could you ask for for the price?? And the fact you even get special towels just to take to the beach or pool is a great free addition (even if they are a bit tatty)

The hotel is set back behind the restaurant and so is very peaceful and quiet which is refreshing as when we went in March the beaches and streets were very busy with tourists.

We wish we would have paid the tiny bit extra and booked a poolside room but we never and we're still impressed.
Our balcony view was a fence but we had the white sands and clear waters of Thailand 2 minuet walk away and so we never had chance to spend any time on our balcony to neither notice or care about the view.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at kata pool side resort, I'm sure our lovely room wasn't a one off (because I popped my head into a couple of empty rooms that the maid was preparing once and the rooms are all pretty much the same)

Great value for money!

Great value ,close to beach ,good service ,air conditioned would recommend , swimming pool is good with shade and wifi worked everywhere, staff were most helpful, we found it to be perfect for Kata as it is central to every thing also we stayed on top floor and found stairs easy to navigate if that's an issue for some people.

Not many people know about this little hotel but we really loved it.
We had a pool access room which made a lot of difference. Fun to swim when ever and lounge on your balcony.
Only slight downside was that it's not busy enough to have the pool's swimup bar staffed all the time, but instead they have a phone there where you can order food and cocktails at anytime and they come out really quickly (p.s. the chicken burgers, bloody mary's and pizza's are delicious, huge and cheap!) so we were happy with that.

The hotel is really well priced and the rooms are huge. The beach is only a couple of minutes stroll and there's lots of restaurants close by.
There's definitely not the variety or as good shopping in Kata Beach so we were happy we'd done most of that in Patong.

The other thing which is amazing about this hotel is their restaurant. the Lobster & Prawn restaurant has an awesome inexpensive breakfast and the dinners are really great. Not fine dining at all, but relaxing casual dinners where you can order beautiful thai cuisine or choose fresh seafood for the chefs to cook for you.

The hotel is a little dated and needs some love but overall it's lovely and clean and has friendly helpful staff. TPI - always be polite and say hello, please and thank you and the thai locals will treat you beautifully :)

Room tip: Request or book a pool access room

9 years since we visited Phuket when we were based near to Patong which was then an Aussie Blackpool with girlie bars. But we preferred the beaches of Karon, Kata and Kata Noi. Kata Poolside proved to be ideal for us Kata beach being only a 4 or 5 minute walk, Kata Noi is a little further and over a hill so you may like to take a 200 baht taxi ride to these beaches.
O.K. the rooms are basic but do have Wi-Fi, T.V., safe, and a bathroom with bath, shower and W.C. There are also coffee and tea making facilities (kettle and fridge but no coffee or tea.) The poll is reasonable but who needs this with such great beaches nearby. Bars, restaurants and the usual shops can be found nearby. Despite reading previous reports KP the tailor was not a problem indeed the man did have some charm. The buffet breakfast is good but at less than £4 each might prove to be better value if bought on site. But it is the attitude and cheerfulness of the staff that is the main attraction of Kata Poolside Resort.
Please note at the time of our visit sunloungers were not permitted on the beach

This resort is really good value for money. The room is quite spacious and is very conveniently located with a quick 5 minute walk to the beach. The staff here were so friendly and made you feel so welcomed. They were also very helpful in arranging transfers from the airport and to your next destination. The room was a bit old especially the bathroom, but was very clean. Overall this is great value for money and for budget travellers.
