Very interesting for both adult and children. The first sight is a bit intimidating as this resembles an average factory- workshop, but as the audio-guide unvails, it’s a very interesting history. The child play area was also special with scientific toys. With Young children, please do provision extra time.

Self guided tour in English of metal turning factory from 1899 which made mostly one cylinder engines. Every aspect well preserved 4/5 as no engine was running today 6/9/17. Allow 1h for tour and inside out of weather.

Visited here while in the town and followed the footpath signs from there; which took us up a very long and steep flight of uneven steps. Once at the museum we realised there was a car park and alternative approach road that would have been a lot easier to walk...
Museum is best summed up by 'quirky'. As others have reviewed it is a museum that is a factory that simply closed down and lay untouched for years, before 're-opening' as a museum. It smells of oil and there is the odd personal effect like a coat lying around too; all adding to the sense that everyone just walked away from it. Strangely photogenic too.
We arrived just after a large tour group had entered so we couldn't all get the audio guide.
Overal we found the whole thing a bit surreal really; but good!
There is a very good hands on science play/activity floor which we all enjoyed.
Cost wise - a bit higher than we had thought - but having climbed a hill to get there we were committed to going in!

Machines can be interesting. First I did not give much attention to machines but after coming here I felt there is so much more to machines. The way the things are explained here specially the audio, it helped me understand so many things.

This museum is really special, as it presents the factory just as it was before closure. They offer an outstanding audio guide too (both Swedish and English versions are very good). It's especially remarkable as it's not always popular in Sweden to show pride in industrial heritage. It's a stone's throw from the bus station and town centre, takes about an hour to visit it and there's a small souvenir shop and a cafe too. Great destination for a day trip from Stockholm (or even a half-day trip if you depart early - bus 676 goes every 15 minutes), which can be complemented by a walk around this very pleasant town.
