My wife has a keen interest in clothes which was the principal reason for our visit as there was an exhibition of fashion in the late 19th Century to about 1930.
Very well displayed if fairly small, and the information was in English as well as Portuguese which was very helpful.
The second part of the museum is given over to cork which is pretty much ubiquitous in the Algarve.
It's only a small museum but it was a very nice way to spend a leisurely hour or so and it was only a few Euro for entry.

The building itself is stunning and worth seeing in itself. The costumes are interesting and we had fun posing with the moustaches and the cut out costumes. The outside has an extensive display of cork machinery and a tower with views over the town. Only 30 min visit but very well presented and enjoyable.

The museum is located in a pretty 19th century palace, the home of a former mule driver turned cork industrialist. It's a museum of two halves - an Algarve costume museum spanning the 30 years pre and post World War I, and a section devoted to the local cork industry. It's a small museum, but that lets you see everything, and the exhibits are chosen carefully for their quirky interest. The displays are all captioned in Portuguese and English. The museum curator is enthusiastic about the collections, and willing to explain the more unusual items. Don't miss the film he made about cork harvesting - it really brings the subject to life. One room is also a changing exhibition space for students from the local art college. There is also a lovely tea room in the courtyard, a great place to stop for a coffee and cake.

Adult entry €2.00

Learning about what was happening in the early 20th century in Sao Bras. Wonderful collection of clothes with articles from the period. There is also the history of the Cork industry and a lovely courtyard to wonder around. Originally the home of a large Cork industrialist you can just imagine what it may have been like to live back then
