We were staying down in Burgau and decided to take a drive up the coast for lunch. Restaurants, and towns, seemed a bit sparse then we found Chaparro in the small town of Odeciexe. A real find. The couvert was excellent and the pork belly dish I had was superb. The meat, very tasty, just fell of the bone and the mini roast potatoes were first class. Mrs B had the chicken kebab which looked enormous and was described as absolutely lovely. For sweet I had honey pie. Out of this world and beaten only by the best of sticky toffee puddings, but it's a close run thing. Service was friendly and at a pace consistent with the relaxed holiday feelings prevalent. The place seemed well populated with locals which I always take as a good sign. All in all a great little restaurant and well worth the drive up from the overpriced ones down on the Algarve coast. If you are in the area visit Chaparro. You won't regret it.
We eat in the village for 3 nights and found this to be the best place we ate. Fish is a must in this region but a went off piste and had a steak - excellent
In a small street of Odeceixe (they are all small!). We arrived there early (7p.m.) attracted by the menus and the prices! One hour later, the restaurant was crowded. We drank a refreshing sangria, ate some shrimps and tuna. Everything was very tasty. The service is fast without being hurried. A nice experience...
Very friendly service, albeit a bit slow.
The fish pate that are commonly served before the meal (together with olives and bread) were of superior quality.
The mackerel appetizers and the vegetable soup were both first class.
The octopus and sweet potato dish was excellent, if a bit oily.
The porc was a bit firm but tasty.
Note that there are only three tables available outdoors and that they are located in a pedestrian street.
