“Our third visit. Memorable and delicious, unique, indeed philsophical. Over 50 local cheeses.”

Mr. Wiesner bills himself as a Hexer or Wizard and conceives extremely well-thought out meals based on themes. This time it was all around a story involving a Citroen HY truck and an accident.Iit began with an aperitif in the "garage" with cheese, ham and one of his homemade sausages (his father's business) and then in the dining room simplyu the finest tartare ever eaten, cut up in front of you in a grinder. it was venison.

after that some local char (Saibling, omble chevalier) tartare as always with a host of original and tasty garnishes. We opted for the wine pairing which consisted of all magnificent Swiss wines, served by full, half or even quarter glasses. There is in fact much humour also in this restaurant.
The cheese course is impressive indeed, being all local and serving cheeses as old as SEVEN years, plus a host of condiments that were outstanding Then we have the desserts and local kirsch etc. We paid about 1050 CHF for four people for all that.

You can order a room at a neighboring farm/chalet for 60 CHF/person which we did and enjoyed. they pick you up at the hotel and lodge you and serve a big bre"akfast and then drive you back down to your car. A wonderful experience.

Everything you get is local, home made, seasonal and in the very best quality. One of the best and certainly the most original lunches of my life. Quality / price ratio is outstanding, the wine list is full of little and hard to find Swiss gems. Very knowledgeable service staff and a great atmosphere where everybody with every wallet size will feel welcome.

In stead of taking the highway from Zug to Berne, I decided to take "the short" but time wise slightly longer route but planned to have lunch at the Rössli in Escholzmatt. As always: it is worth it, even if you just have a quick bite from their lunch menue... This is what a great chef can achieve: true & authentic taste - and all for a reasonable price :-) ...like that!

We were very interested to enjoy a meal on a gourmet level with only regional and seasonal products. The different dishes have been very innovative and the presentation was simply great.
Each dish was different and the tasted great. We did also choose the wine proposal with a different glass for each dish. We were a bit disappointed that there are only Swiss wines available, they worked great on white wine but on the red wine we did not really enjoy them too much, even if they fit the concept very well.
Overall it was a great experience. As there is different menu for each season it will be worth visit this restaurant at different times of the year.
